  1. I’ve stayed here 5+ times and have generally have good experiences. It’s very downtown San Jose, making it easy to walk everywhere and has a restaurant on the ground floor which opens at 6:30am for breakfast.
I give it 4/5 as the rooms are a little dated, but overall is a nice property and I’d recommend it.

  2. Stayed here for 3 nights and it was perfect. Staff was super friendly and room was always clean when I returned. There is a 7/11 about 15 min walk from the hotel as well for getting some snacks and the room had a fridge.

Shower was nice and had a hand held and main part so could get a good shower.

They have valet parking. But I decided to Uber it instead of a car. So was no issue.

The building is cute and interesting and has a lot of classic touches that were neat. AC worked perfectly and the room was quiet.

Gym was in basement and had multiple treadmill and elliptical machines as well as free weights. Towels and water also in gym.

Vending machine was a bit overpriced so I recommend the 7/11 nearby or stopping by a store on the way.

No complaints. Would def stay here again if in downtown San Jose.

  3. Everything regarding our stay, from the cleanliness to the upkeep, was great. The front desk was polite, and the valet service was professional and timely. The technology (TV) could use an upgrade, no streaming. Just cable television. However, I had a terrible experience with in room dining and customer service thereafter.

For context, my lady and I had very little to eat the previous day. We ordered in-room dining from the hotel’s breakfast menu. It seemed as though room service was particularly busy, which is fine, but the wait time for placing my food order was a bit long. By the time we got our food and began to eat, it was cold. My lady ordered the eggs, potatoes, and toast. I ordered the pancakes and salmon avocado toast. We were supposed to share a basket of pastries, but that never arrived. She had orange juice and I had some coffee. The pancakes were rubbery, and the bread for the avocado toast was hard. Other than that, it was tasty and we were content with what we ordered.

As we began packing up for checkout (~1.5 hours later) I began experiencing stomach cramping and nausea. Just before leaving, I threw up in the toilet, and on the way home threw up in my car. I had diarrhea at home for the next 24 hours. When I finally felt good enough to call the hotel, I explained to the front desk my experience and concerns. They transferred me to someone else, who assured me I would recieve a refund. I made it clear I would only accept compensation for what I could not stomach, as my lady enjoyed her breakfast just fine.

I received an email the next day with a cold, half sentence message stating I would not recieve a refund. That’s it. No other option to remedy the poor experience. I was going to leave a good review and actually stay here again in a couple of weeks. As things stand, I will be looking elsewhere. I expected more from a “4-star” hotel’s customer care.

  4. I stay at this Westin when I am visiting with and/or leaving my daughter at school. I have never had an issue here and like the proximity to the school and Original Joe’s. However, I was there this past weekend and had an issue with the valet parking. Long story short – I was about to lose it when Denise at the front desk stepped in to calm me and confirm that she would resolve the parking issue for me. Thank you Denise, your customer service and consideration of me is much appreciated.

Big shout out to Chris A. at the front desk as well!! Your kind gesture to rectify our initial encounter went above and beyond. Thank you for your customer service and providing my renewed belief that most of us are genuinely of good character and integrity.

  5. The rooms smell like mold, it’s an old building with horrible ventilation. And the beds were smaller than advertised with sheets that made me itch. No amenities really, I should’ve booked somewhere else. Was not comfortable at all but the building had a historic charm and the staff was pretty responsive. I just couldn’t breathe very well and allergies were flaring up in the room
