  1. I had a awful experience at this hotel.
My first room had nasty mattress.
I requested to be moved and the second room had blood on the side of the tub . The entire time I was there the blood stayed on the tub. The sheets had holes in it. It was like I was in a twilight motel for truckers.
The room just felt and smelled terrible.
I was there for a job conference and just dealt with it but wanted to sleep in my car.
I would not recommend this place unless they get a total remodel.

  2. We arrived in Birmingham after a long trip from Florida and needed a place to rest. I searched for the best hotel in town and found The Westin on Google.

Initially, the rate I was quoted was $209 per room. I booked two rooms: one for my kids and another for me, my wife, and our two-year-old. However, the final charges came to $248.58 and $287.58, significantly higher than the quoted rate. Online, these same rooms were advertised for $190 each.

On the night we arrived, we left our belongings in the rooms, went to eat, and came back to sleep. Before going to bed, I set the thermostat in both rooms to 71 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the temperature in our king-size room (room 434) dropped to 65 degrees by 2:00 AM. We were freezing!

I called downstairs to inquire about operating the thermostat, and the response was that they would need to send an engineer to the room. This never happened. The following morning, after a terrible nightā€™s sleep, I called again at 8:00 AM. The manager didnā€™t arrive until 1:00 PM.

After explaining the situation, I expected her to adjust my bill. Instead, I was charged the full $209 for one room and $287.58 for the other.

I donā€™t understand why your hotel is so expensive. The rooms are no better than average, and in fact, the TV controls and air conditioning didnā€™t work. The customer service was also terrible. To make matters worse, when I went to breakfast (which I had to pay for separately), they didnā€™t even have fresh eggs!

Overall, the hotel was bad, the food was terrible, and the service was abysmal. why this hotel is more expensive than a Motel 8?

  3. The beds were lumpy and very hard! The pillows were great! The cracks along the walls, like where tile from floor met wall had cracks and broken caulking. Soap dispensers were empty and never refilled while I was there for 4 days. Towels were like drying with 80 grit sandpaper. Pool was closed in the middle of summer for ā€œmaintenanceā€ but never once saw anyone doing anything with it i.e. cleaning, fixing etc. overall experience was ok. Not great and not bad. For the money it wasnā€™t worth it for me. Iā€™d choose somewhere else to go.

  4. I dont like to leave bad reviews since I am a business owner. But when itā€™s hot as hell outside I pull up to the entrance to be greeted by a valet. I told him I just needed to unload my luggage to which he told me I had to park outside his area so I had to park in the STREET TO UNLOAD. After unloading he tells me I have to park around the corner in the parking deck. I ask if he would keep an eye on my luggage to whichn he said ā€œNO ITS NOT MY JOB IM A VALET. So I had to leave my luggage just sitting out there while I tried to find my way back from the Parking deck. Westin you need better management!!!! Next time I wont stay at Merriot.

  5. Iā€™ve stayed at worse Marriott properties but this is the worst Westin Iā€™ve stayed at. My room was fine, a bit worn, with some fixture issues (the shower handle kept turning), but otherwise acceptable; of all the hotels Iā€™ve stayed in, this was one of them. The BIG issue is, thereā€™s nowhere to eat. The hotel has a pricey steak place (10oz filet = $60+) but thatā€™s it; thereā€™s a poorly run but pleasant looking coffee shop off the lobby. Across the street is a Brazilian steak house ($52), down the block a very unauthentic Mexican place, and a sports bar with a sub 4 star rating. Oh, and a Subway. Thatā€™s it. Youā€™re wedged between the highway and a sports stadium (if you get a room facing it, move: The bright lights are on all night and the noise from whatever the event was overwhelmed my TV). I had to explain to the lobby bartender that a dry martini meant LESS vermouth, not more and that a vodka soda was not a vodka tonic. šŸ˜
