  1. It was beyond excellent. Not the Ritz, but exactly what we wanted. Quaint, old school comfort (grandma’s house) with just enough modern conveniences to make it work. Close to everything Mobile. Beautiful neighborhood, friendly neighbors and beautiful home. Took us back in time to a simpler life and comfort. It was beyond what we expected. Perfect place to stay!

  2. Beautiful old structure. Our room was gorgeous. However, Never met the innkeeper. She does not live on the property. Claims they are only a couple of houses away. Guests are all alone in this 4 unit Bed and Breakfast inn. Breakfast offerings were set out the day before on a side table in the dining room for self serve breakfast. First morning, a very large mouse was stuck to a glue trap directly under the food. Mouse was still alive and thrashing about in an effort to free itself. I texted the owner immediately and 30 minutes later the owner had sent over her roommate to remove the creature. Kinds of takes your appetite away. Second morning: We had to leave very early (4:00 am) for our flight. Walked in dining room to breakfast offerings to find the containers of muffins, donuts, etc. chewed through; along with visible chew marks on the products. There was an abundance of mouse hair and fur all over the table holding the food. After reaching the airport, texted the owner about the situation. This inn lacks hospitality above and beyond anything else. Got the feeling, this was merely an investment by the owner as a side business, not wanting to put much effort into being an innkeeper. Owner never once showed up while we were there, We will not be staying here again, I would suggest you avoid this place.

  3. I didn’t read the description well enough I did not realize there was nobody on duty at the house. We stay at a B&B. I like there to be a host and someone that cooks us breakfast so that we can all sit at the table and talk. Secondly, our room doesn’t have a shower. It has a tub with a shower hose. Not sure about the other rooms. When you stay at the B&B, you expect it to be a little more personable. This one was just like a hotel everybody coming and going nobody talking. It’s under construction also it didn’t bother us but maybe someone else.

  4. I had a wonderful stay at The Kate. It was exactly what I am looking for when I am traveling. I was able to check in myself and I could come and go as I needed. There was also a golf cart that was made available to use if I wanted. Will definitely stay here if I ever travel to Mobile again.

It was great to see this beautiful house, but we were sadly disappointed in it as a lodging. Our first hint was the message that breakfast would not be the hot, well-prepared meal we’ve come to expect from B&Bs with prices like yours. The cheap commercial pastries and granola bars, left out overnight for us, along with coffee we had to make ourselves and longlasting creamers instead of real milk, were inadequate to say the least. Our bed was so high I needed a stepladder to get into it, and the place was chilly, with no controls. We were given tiny pieces of soap, and no tissues at all. Worst, there was no staff there to answer questions, make recommendations, or give directions.
I will surely let anyone I know about this sorry excuse for a lodging; a motel would have offered more. The house is fading and needs maintenance work, and its grand facade cannot compensate for all the things wrong. We regret our choice, and feel you’ve misrepresented it online.
