  1. What a great find!!

It was our first time visiting Palm Springs and we were looking for accommodation with character. Sparrows Lodge did not disappoint.

As youā€™ll see from their website, this place has been updated to modern standards while keeping its historical footprint.

Staff are pleasant, rooms are sizeable, breakfast is modest but sets you up for the day. If you donā€™t feel like going out for dinner, do eat in and enjoy the cocktail list.

We loved their outdoor seating under the trees.

A unique feature of Sparrows Lodge is their central fire pit. We spent a number of evenings enjoying pleasant conversation with other guests while making Sā€™mores ā€“ a complimentary treat for Lodge guests.

    Thereā€™s a pool, on-site parking, and a library room.

The sights of Palm Springs are a short drive away.

    Would stay here again.

  2. Weā€™ve stayed here at Sparrows Lodge twice now, and both times were truly the perfect experience. These folks managed to catch magic lighting in a bottle twice. The hospitality is unrivaled, even when compared to more expensive, higher star hotels. Every staff member is incredibly kind, and does whatever they can to go above and beyond. The food, decor, and amenities are top notch, and all add up to a relaxing vacation with everything you could hope for. At this point weā€™re just constantly looking for excuses to come back.

  3. Intimate down to earth yet elevated tranquility. Gorgeous rooms ā€“ weā€™ve been in a cabin and a regular room. Cool, clean retreat from sun and a place you actually want to hang out inā€¦and of course the main feature is the lovely courtyard pool, gorgeous seating, outdoor lounging, dining and garden.

Service is great, has changed in the past year or so. They said they were out of coconut water and later admitted they just donā€™t stock it anymore though itā€™s on the menu. Itā€™s not quite the performative best-in-class proactive service it was before but it is still my very favorite place to enjoy some downtime and restore and relax with my partner.

Youā€™ll meet many return/regular visitors here. That says a lot.

  4. We just got home from our stay at Sparrows Lodge and weā€™re already trying to figure out when we can return. The property is beautiful ā€“ no detail has been overlooked; but it still feels ā€œcoolā€. Like youā€™re in your most stylish friendā€™s home (that you never want to leave.)

The STAFF: No stuffy attitudes here. We were treated warmly by everyone we encountered the whole trip. I think thereā€™s a fine line in service with being really, really good at your job but also making it seem effortless and friendly and casual. They nail it here. Everyone just seemedā€¦ happy? Maybe itā€™s all the vitamin D.

The food was wonderful. Weā€™re still talking about the carrot cavatelli pasta. Iā€™ll be dreaming about the chips and guacamole for weeks to come, Iā€™m sure.

This is one weā€™ll be talking about for a while.

  5. Much to like about Sparrowā€™s Lodge. Nice design aesthetic, excellent food (breakfast and poolside lunch), and pretty cool relaxing vibe. Appreciated the adults only atmosphere, especially given the relatively small size of the pool.
A few areas they could improve: 1) the rooms have embraced natural materials and a rustic feel which is nicely done, but the ā€œtoilet roomā€ (separate from the shower / tub area) was really unappealing. As basic and cheap feeling as your classic outhouse. 2) our patio had nice furniture etc but the lack of landscape maintenance made it feel grungier than it should have. Just throw down some more pea gravelā€¦itā€™s not that hard if you really care. 3) There was a general wabi-sabi approach to the property landscaping ā€“ some beautiful parts and some areas that were just barren dirt patches. Some of the plantings around the palm trees had some ground cover, others none at all. It felt they were slightly understaffed and didnā€™t have a permanent landscape staff. Also, ideally they would do a little more to ensure there was more visual and auditory separation from the road to the pool. The entry ā€œclubhouseā€ is really nicely furnished and provides some separation but a simple hedge/ fence between the parking lot and the clubhouse would add to the sense of privacy.
Overall: very nice place if youā€™re paying $250-$350/ntā€¦but if youā€™re paying $500+/nt then these flaws feel more pronounced.
