  1. This place is great for me. It is considered an older building in LA standards but compared to other luxury and mid-luxury buildings I’ve lived in, this gets 5 stars. I had to downsize and simplify my life so I can travel more and this place has been perfect for that. The community atmosphere makes a huge difference especially a friendlier and responsive management team as well as friendly neighbors who actually say hi and hi back. Dog parents pick up after them, tenants hold doors for others, and also hardly any neighbor sounds. I’ve had the most restful sleep in years even with the passing street sounds. I’ve gotten all my packages because the staff coaches delivery people how to navigate through the building and if I’m not home I ask them to receive and or hold them for me. I also feel very safe walking around the Little Tokyo area at night for dinner or even just to get out of my place.

  2. Update with response: The holding deposit policy was not transparent. The “fine print” link in the email was flagged as insecure and inaccessible through standard means, and it is problematic that it is only available there. Unlike other rentals, you didn’t send a signed document copy, such as a PDF, and crucial information wasn’t available in the application portal. You’re welcome to discuss how to improve your system with me, as this is a major area for enhancement.

    Original:

I had a disappointing experience with Sakura Crossing. While the building does have some nice amenities, such as a theater and a clubhouse (under remodeling at the time of my visit) located upstairs by the rooftop patio with a great view of downtown Los Angeles, there are significant drawbacks to consider.

The building is noticeably older than the neighboring ones, which comes with several issues. The units are smaller, and I noticed that noise travels through the walls and floors more compared to newer constructions. Additionally, the lighting throughout the building is dimmer, which adds to the overall less inviting atmosphere.

Personally, I found the amenity layout within the building doesn’t provide the spacious and comfortable environment I prefer. This aspect affected my overall satisfaction with the recreational areas.

I also encountered issues with management regarding my holding deposit. Despite my expectations, the deposit was not refunded, and the process felt opaque and frustrating. I rented from another property managed by a different company that had a very clear process, so this experience was particularly disheartening by comparison.

Despite some positive features, there are better options available in the area, and I would not recommend this complex. I had spoken highly about Equity Apartments during my previous apartment search, but this experience has tarnished that impression.

  3. Two months ago, I submitted a request to rent a one-bedroom apartment. They requested a $600 deposit, reviewed my application, and denied me the rental. My deposit is still with them (they promised to return the deposit within ten days), and they do not respond to calls or emails. Beware of SCAM if you plan to rent an apartment here.

  4. Beware of their dishonest business practice.

Had to terminate my lease due to military service. But the leasing office held on to my portion of deposit because my housemate was still living in the unit. They wouldn’t refund and continued to play with obscure excuses because they deemed my case a “release of my name from the lease” and that “releasing your name from the lease is not the same as termination of lease.” Wish I had more time to deal with this hassle. Shameful move of them to prey on service member.

  5. Hiromi and the staff at Sakura Crossing Apartments have been great from the moment we first toured the the apartments and through the leasing process. We enjoy living here and the location in Little Tokyo near the Arts District and DTLA in general is great as well.
