  1. Such an awesome experience. They really make you feel like they are catering to you and your specific needs. They saved me when I needed an emergency wedding dress when my custom dress came out terribly from another store. They had a rare selection of white sarees, and a stunning collection of plus size clothing also. Their store is clean, gorgeous selection of clothing that is modern and stylish, and amazing customer service. Will definitely be returning and will recommend to all my friends and family. Shop here for all your Indian apparel needs!

  2. I wish I could give this a 0 star review.

I am getting married next year so I came to Roopam to look at their bridal clothing. For context: I am a plus size person and Indian clothing stores generally don’t carry items for people my size, so I made sure to start shopping early so I could have something custom made for my body type.

When we went in, we told the employees that we were looking for a bridal outfit for myself and a simple outfit for a friend of mine. All 4 employees rushed to the back and brought back multiple selections out for my friend and quickly started putting them against her to show her what they could look like. She looked amazing and the outfits were stunning on her, so I told her that, to which the shop owner replied “she’s a beautiful girl, anything will look nice on her.” She politely told them that she was going to come back at a later time to find an outfit with her mom.

We then asked to see bridal outfits for myself. The employees all turned to the shop owner who told me that they didn’t have anything my size and asked what color I was looking for. I told him what I wanted and he told me that they would have to stitch together 2-3 outfits together to even fit me. He told me they could do it if I really wanted and they would talk to their designers to see if they would send photos of outfits they could make in my size. I felt so humiliated and honestly was holding back tears at that point.

My mom asked if we could see anything just to get an idea of what we could potentially order and they told us they really had nothing to show and rushed us out of the door. I felt so discriminated against. I then talked to multiple people who had been to Roopam and they also shared their negative experiences with the shop owner and employees making snarky comments about them.

My advice to any other plus size person is to not even waste time at this shop. They’ll humiliate you and rush you out of the shop. This was blatant discrimination against my body type. You’re supposed to feel beautiful and excited when shopping got your bridal outfit. All I felt was shame and humiliation at Roopam. Never going back again.

  3. This place is hit and miss for Indian clothing. They do have great customer service. At times, they carry good selections for bigger sizes. Indian stores are completely run differently then American stores. You have to ask them and they will show their pieces since these are expensive clothing. And needs to handled carefully. It’s not like going to American stores and items are hanging on the rack.

I have purchased several clothing and jewelry items from their Berkeley and sacramento location
I would totally recommend this store in you in need of nice lengha, sari or regular Indian wear.

  4. The staff is rude and very arrogant. We went to look at wedding outfits and get a gauge of what they had to offer before requesting a custom outfit. Instead of showing us around and providing us with examples they told us out and to come back 2 months before the wedding.

Firstly, who goes shopping for their wedding outfits with only 2 months? It seems like a scam to force customers to buy the ready made outfits even if fit wasn’t exact.

Secondly, if taking out the wedding lenghas is such a hassle then why not at least have pictures to show us or have some on display?

The overall experience was highly unprofessional. I would advise against going here.

  5. I wish I could give 0 stars if possible. Garbage store 🗑 The bald guy and the rude lady on the phone (idk her name) had TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! DO NOT COME HERE. I called to pick up my suit and explained I had a flight in 2 days & need to pick it up. That lady said they are closing early (because of a party). The hours say they close at 7 & I was going to be there 5 min before they close (mind you just to pick it up). She hung up & was soo rude & said pick it up on Tuesday even though I told her I have a flight that morning. They also said they would alter my suit, which they did not. Go to other Indian cloth stores in the area which are wayyyy better quality and customer service wise.
