Piggly Wiggly, founded in 1916 in Memphis, Tennessee, is recognized as America’s first self-service grocery store. Founded by Clarence Saunders, who introduced the “self-service” system enabling customers to pick their own goods, this innovative concept transformed the grocery industry. The company initially established 27 stores by 1925 but unfortunately, faced a decline due to poor management and increased competition, leading to its eventual liquidation in 1982. Nevertheless, the Piggly Wiggly brand was revived in the 1990s. Today, Piggly Wiggly operates primarily in the Southeastern U.S., maintaining an essential presence in the grocery landscape with modern conveniences for its customers. The brand’s enduring legacy highlights a significant shift in consumption habits that marked early 20th-century retail innovation.

Even though we shop here weekly I wanted to say how impressed I am with the store. It is Always spotless merchandise is fresh, rotated, and face front. Staff is always courteous. Today I needed to use restroom they were emaculate. Great job top to bottom
Deli needs a deeeeep cleaning.
Tired building. Rude employees In the deli, it’s impossible to get any sandwich meat sliced properly and cleanly. Employee opened a new chub of bologna and placed it in the hand washing sink before slicing…..no training absolutely disgusting.
I enjoy the small store feel. The store is surprisingly bright and inviting. I recommend avoiding discounted meat. From my experience, most are beyond the point of safe human consumption.
The website is very user unfriendly
It’s easy to check prices online with the other major brand grocery stores, but not with the pig
Are you ashamed of your prices, or are your prices not competitive? How about putting out a weekly flyer online with your sales for the week, like the other stores do.
It has the best fried chicken ever.
