1. Had to stop by on a Friday around 10 am for a tire pressure check on the brand new tires I bought through Pep boys (different location). Went in and was directed to go to a specific bay. Upon getting there two employees were in the emplty bay but standing around and chatting, one was on his phone, even though they both seen me waiting neither one approached. It was finally Doug, an older gentleman, who finally came over after stopping the work he was doing in a different bay. I explained the issue and he checked my tire. It was only then that James came over to see what was needed, which Doug obviously had taken care of, so he went back to standing around and being on his phone. If I return, it will be strictly because of Doug. Seems like some employees here don’t like to work much.

2. I just recently took my Ford escape to Pep Boys on Hwy 72 for an oil change and for them to give it a general look over. We purchased this vehicle 1 year ago used so we really wanted to get an idea of upcoming maintenance that it might need. The managers and staff were excellent. Very perfessional, knowledgeable and acted like they genuinely cared about more than just making money. I really feel like they put the customer first. Needless to say I’m a very satisfied customer and would recommend them to my friends and family.

3. I went into Pep Boys because my AC was running hot. They quoted me 10 times the actual cost to replace and recharge the condenser totaling $1300. I was able to buy the condenser online for $79 and paid $50 for the Freon and saved $1150 with the help of a 15 minute YouTube video (they quoted $100 an hour for labor by the way). They’re banking on their customers, not knowing anything about cars and they will take advantage of you, watch out for them.

4. The store in Athens Al needs some serious help. Tried to book a appointment 3 times to get tire alignment checked. Alignment tech only works until 4. First 2 appointments were for 6. Manager called me on second appointment and told me he only works till 4. So I book a 9 am appointment. Drop my car off at 0845. Walk over to Lowes and come back at 0930 and car is till sitting in lot and my keys are still on service desk. I ask the only lady working at counter what is going on, ask her why my car is still sitting there? She said well I have to put it in the system before they can work on it. Really??? why make an appointment if you still have to wait. How long does it take to let the techs know that they need to do an alignment. The alignment rack was empty the entire time. This place used to provide good service, not anymore and I will not be back! would give 0 stars if i could.

5. Honestly would leave -5 stars if I could. Had an appointment for 1 pm. Called about 2 hours later to see what time it would be done. They didn’t know. Car stayed over night came to pick up and they still did not do half of the requested work. They do not honor appointments. I would stay away from PEP BOYS all together. The girl at the desk basically said she didn’t care that my car had been there 2 days. Worst experience I’ve ever had.
