  1. Iā€™ve been in this hotel for nearly two weeks. I extended my reservation again, like I have multiple times across my stay. After working starting early in the morning and not getting back to the hotel until 11:00pm, I arrive to figure out they had gone in my room and thrown away most of my belongings. The room was extended and paid for and instead of ensuring they had correct data, they threw away most of my belongings including most of my clothes, phone chargers, my contacts (which have to be special ordered), my toiletries, and multiple other items. I. Am. FURIOUS. It would be a little bit different if I hadnā€™t paid to extend my room, but I paid for my room and they took all of my things out of the room and threw it away anyways. There is no universe I, or any of my employees, will ever be staying at this hotel ever again. I canā€™t even trust that my belongings will be safe from hotel staff. They found a few of my items in the trash. Absolutely blacklisted.

Edit: Kudos to Peter though. Heā€™s an absolutely excellent guy and whatever they pay him is not enough. He had nothing to do with throwing away my belongings but decided to go dumpster diving to try and find my things. He had absolutely no obligation to do this, especially since it had nothing to do with him, nor was it his fault in any way. I feel bad for him. I hope they treat him well here.

  2. This was quite possibly one of the worst ā€œhotelsā€ Iā€™ve ever stayed at. If it hadnā€™t been so late, I wouldā€™ve asked for a refund and drove the 5 hours left of my trip. The staff were very kind, and got us checked in quickly.

We made it to our room, and my family and I just looked at each other. The room was pretty disgusting. It smelled like a boys locker room, had stains on the carpet, the bedding was stained and yellowing, finger prints all over the wooden headboard, lumpy pillows, water damaged furniture, the sink in the bathroom took forever to drain, and the walls were dirty. We asked to be moved to another room, and they did accommodate us.

Upon moving to that room, it wasnā€™t much better. The smell was different, but still not good. Bedding looked just as bad, sink still had problems draining if you ran the water too high, finger prints still all over the headboard, something that looked like it could be blood on the light over the beds, possibly mold on the bathroom ceiling, carpet stains, etc. There are also HUGE gaps under every door.

The breakfast was very deceiving as the photos showed waffle makers and such. There was only cereal, coldish biscuits and gravy, prepackaged muffins, and yogurt. The drink machine wasnā€™t even working so you had to touch the same gallon of milk everyone else was using.

I hated making my kids sleep there, but we just couldnā€™t drive more that night. It felt very unsafe overall, which is aggravating after reading so many good reviews. This place wasnā€™t worth more than $50 a night.

  3. I appreciated that the staff heeded my request to be on a higher floor and to have a room away from the elevator. But after that, everything went downhill. The dryer in my bathroom did not work and even with asking the front desk to send someone up while I was out of the room, nothing was fixed and my request was basically ignored.

I have been staying in hotels for over a decade in my young life and I have never had to ā€œrequestā€ housekeeping to clean my room and to bring fresh towels. At this hotel, housekeeping is not automatic and if not requested, nothing will be cleaned up in the room.

Breakfast could be served till 11 a.m., especially since the only things that are served fresh are sausage links, biscuits and gravy. If there were a big breakfast spread of fresh eggs, bacon, grits, oatmeal, etc., then it would be understandable to cut breakfast short earlier. I will admit, Iā€™ve never seen a pancake printing machine before, so that was really cool to witness my pancakes being made in a matter of seconds.

Overall, I canā€™t say that Iā€™m surprised in the quality of the service at this hotel given that the nightly rate was only $65. On the other hand, I shouldnā€™t be forced to ask the front desk to clean the room and bring fresh towels; that should be a given. My stay was only 3 days and 2 nights, but it couldā€™ve been better. If and when I visit Tuscaloosa again, Iā€™ll stay somewhere else.

  4. The rooms are great and complimentary breakfast is ok. The only problem I have is that the room I had didnā€™t have a mini fridge or ice bucket. Donā€™t be like me ask if the rooms have them because I didnā€™t see an ice machine either. Otherwise a great place thatā€™s safe and secure.
