  1. The hotel is beautiful. There room was spacious and cozy. The lighting is absolutely wonderful because there are plenty of light fixtures to make the room bright at night if desired. View of the marina is stunning.
I found a few hairs on the floor of the bathroom. So a little more attention there would be great. Shout out to Patrick of the front desk for being so professional and welcoming.
I was pretty bummed out about the confusion around the fifteen dollar voucher I was given towards food and beverage. It was very poorly explained to us how to use it. So I checked out at noon, came down to the restaurant and ordered an expensive lunch with the voucher in mind. I was told I had to charge it to the room for it to apply, but since I had checked out it was too late. I went back to reception to enquire, and they contradicted the server by saying I could have still charged it to thee room even after checking out (a little illogical). I suggested to the lady at the reception that they need to (get their act together) explain this better to the guests upon check in.

  2. My husband and I decided to take a VERY last minute trip to San Diego. We came across the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. We are so glad we did! This hotel might be the best 4-Star hotel we’ve stayed in. 2 pools, a Starbucks, several restaurants but the best part is the location. We were able to walk to a lot of local spots or take less than a 20 minute Uber ride to other parts of the city. We highly recommend. There are 2 negative things that I’d like to make note of BUT it wouldn’t change my mind on coming back. 1.) The seagulls can be a nuisance. 2.) The elevators can be an issue if the hotel is super busy with guest…. Enjoy your stay!

  3. This is a very nice Marriott. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. Staff were friendly. The gift/convenience shop was well stocked. The Agave restaurant has good food and drinks. Lots of families were enjoying the pool. The room was comfortable and clean. Great water pressure. It is directly on the marina waterfront.

  4. We stayed on the 23rd floor of the north tower, the room was a good size but sacrificed the bathroom. Sink area was very tight as well as the shower/toilet. The balcony had a nice view of the harbor. Parking was limited that I had to park at the convention center. You will be awakened by morning poolside exercises by the loud Soundsystem. Room service is none existent as they didn’t clean our room. I spoke with Eva from house keeping as we returned around 4pm and our room was done. Calling the front desk does no good and argued to at least give us fresh towels. The pool, is out of control with no staff controlling misbehaving young kids. Two large pools on the property, make one adults only. For what they charge to stay it’s better to stay elsewhere. I noticed the Hyatt has lots of cars lined up to get on property. They may know something. If in the area avoid the Marriott and try the Hyatt as I will too.

  5. This hotel’s proximity to the Convention Center and Jacobs Park is great, but I don’t see any other reason to stay here. You’re paying for a 4-star hotel, and that’s how it looks from the outside. The pool area really is stunning.

Inside, the rooms are cramped, with an awkward bathroom layout, and shower heads that spray tiny, irritating, needle-like streams of water.

Our room had a vanishingly small amount of storage (a total of three drawers in our entire room, and nowhere to place luggage for convenient access).

The air conditioner kept our room cool, technically; however, I practically waged war with the thermostat throughout our stay, frequently having to reset it to the temperature we wanted, and having to turn the fan back on after it would reset to “Auto” and turn off. And, after all that, our clothes oddly felt damp after just hanging in the closet for three days.

Even-numbered floors have water filling stations, but the water isn’t chilled and it tastes bad. The in-room ice buckets are laughably small and useless.

To end on a positive note, the beds were very comfortable, and I slept well throughout our stay.
