  1. Jesse’s is my favorite restaurant in Gulf Shores, and probably in my top 10! Their lunch menu is superb and their dinner menu rivals any high end fresh fish restaurant.

I’ve tried at least ⅓ of their menu and there is only thing I could critique, and that’s only because everything else was so good!! That’s their blonde ice cream sandwich, which was recently added.

OMG their ‘Porterhouse for Two’ was an absolutely gorgeous piece of meat! 36oz of American glory, cooked to perfection!

It seriously doesn’t matter what you order, it’s all just so good! The stuff is friendly and polite, the drinks are excellent, and their selection of wines, spirits and brews is truly impressive.

  2. Jesse’s on the Bay is a beautiful, upscale restaurant. However, I would say it wasn’t worth the tab.

Food first: everything was plated beautifully. The Oyster Jesse was delicious, until I bit in to a mouthful of shells. Tried another, full of shells. I’m not looking to break my teeth on an expensive plate of oysters when I go out to dinner. Crab and Tasso dip was flavorful and had nice chunks of meat but it doesn’t come with enough dipping accoutrements to eat it all so we had to order more. I had the gulf grouper, and while it was delicious, it simply was not worth the $44 price attached. My daughter had the crawfish mac and cheese and said it was really good.

Atmosphere: the unpleasant experience began when the bartender unnecessarily asked my 18 yo daughter if she was 21, when she said she was okay with water. She said no, he said I’ll be right back, then came to tell us that it’s AL law that one has to be 21 to sit at the bar but because the owner owns the land, that it was up to him, and that he’d be right back (again). He came back and said “the owner politely declined” and then instructed us to move to a table just behind us. While moving a server was intensely questioning what we were doing and if we had permission, etc. Mind you, I asked for a table initially but nothing was available until 1.5 hours later and the hostess said we could try the bar (no mention of an age requirement). Additionally, the tall chairs in the bar section are horribly uncomfortable, if you’re average height.

Bottom line: when I spend $160 on a meal for two, it needs to be amazing, and this wasn’t.

  3. The FOOD, espresso martinis, the view, start to finish from when we were greeted to driving off – the experience is IMMACULATE! Perfect for date night/lunch or for the homies. Ask for Alex Kelly to guide and host your experience at Jesse’s. There was tiramisu but I forgot to take the pic before devouring it.
11/10 coming back. Worth the 1 hour drive. Enjoy the view outside if you can!
Inside’s atmosphere’s just as enjoyable. Thank you Alex for your excellent advice and recommendations. See you again brother!

  4. First, it’s worth the drive! Excellent facilities located on the bay with seating both inside and outside. The food was hot and delicious! We started off with appetizers, House Bread, BBQ Shrimp, and Crab & Tasso Gratin, which were excellent. We also ordered the shrimp tacos, which were good. If you are on the coast, it’s worth a stop.

  5. We stumbled onto Jesse’s on the Bay while in Gulf Shores Alabama. Reservations required. We sat at the bar. Bay views while you eat. Mario at the bar was good but thought he was great (sorry man, but just taking an order does not make you fantastic). Food was good. Filet was the best part. Not Ruth’s Chris quality but surprisingly close. Fifty bucks more than the meal was worth in my estimation of other beach places, but compared to local competitors in Gulf Shores, it was cheap. Typical place here charges $30 for fried frozen shrimp and French fries so budget accordingly. Great bourbon selection. Plenty of “vanilla” flavored celebrity tequila’s for fifteen bucks a pop. 🤢 Desert was unique. I had an orange and blueberry tiramisu that I would eat again. I would go back, and would recommend. There is a bar downstairs where you can wait for your table. Great views. Dress should be resort casual, and mostly was.
