  1. i was a tenant here 9 months. it was my first apartment out of my parents home. it came furnished which was great because i had no furniture. i needed the space very quickly as i was living in a hotel. i was able to sign the lease and get the keys within a matter of days. bobbye (who i believe works at a different location now) was absolutely amazing and SO helpful. since it was my first apartment, i kept calling and asking questions and she did everything she could to explain things to me and make sure my move in was easy. if it wasn’t for her, i may have rented elsewhere. i had 2 property managers while i was there and both of them seemed very cold and not welcoming. the people at the front desk, though, were great! kirk was always super reliable and a great person to talk to, as well as some of the security people who were really helpful. you really get what you pay for at this place, you can’t turn on your hot plate and run your microwave at the same time without the power going out. it went out A LOT. the water also was frequently turned off, and they did a lot of inspections that would happen when you weren’t home which i didn’t like. it also took me 3 months after moving in to get a parking space so i had to pay ~$250/ month to rent somewhere else until then. overall, the location is good. they keep it nice and clean since it’s by the convention center and seaport which is a tourist attraction. but despite not allowing animals, the place had fleas everywhere. and neighbors are weird af. had a lady on my floor randomly screaming at all times of the night and my neighbors stole my doordash one night. there’s also multiple registered sex offenders. if you’re desperate, this is the place to go. if not, please look elsewhere!

  2. I live there for a year. My little flat was adorable. The staff is a 5 star from resident manager to security, maintenance and housekeeping. If you want to experience living in the Gas Lamp area and want a safe and secure place to be. This is the place. It is a safe walk where the action is so you can enjoy other perks downtown. There is also a great café attached on the corner. The rent is affordable which fits a tight budget.

  3. A Wonderful Experience at Island Flats in Downtown San Diego

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Island Flats in San Diego, and I cannot express enough how amazing my experience was. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this was no ordinary place – it was a haven of hospitality and warmth. I was greeted by the incredible manager, Tamatha, whose amazing enthusiasm and genuine care for her residents set the tone for an unforgettable stay.

Tamatha went above and beyond to ensure that my time at Island Flats was exceptional. She was always available to address any concerns or questions I had, and her attention to detail was truly remarkable. Her passion for creating a welcoming environment was evident in every interaction, making my stay all the more enjoyable.

The receptionist, Bobbye, deserves special mention for her exceptional customer service. She was incredibly helpful, offering invaluable suggestions on nearby attractions and always greeting guests with a smile. Her professionalism and knowledge of the area truly enhanced my overall experience.

Island Flats takes security seriously, and it’s all thanks to the wonderful security personnel, particularly Kirk. His vigilant presence made me feel safe and secure throughout my stay. Kirk’s friendly demeanor and dedication to maintaining a secure environment added an extra layer of comfort, leaving me with complete peace of mind.

The amenities at Island Flats were nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I stepped into the gym, I was impressed by the cleanliness and well-maintained equipment. The gym provided all the necessities for a healthy workout routine, allowing me to stay active and maintain my fitness goals effortlessly.

One aspect that truly stood out was the secure parking lot. As someone who values the safety of their vehicle, having a secure parking space was a relief. Island Flats takes great pride in ensuring the security of its residents’ vehicles, offering a hassle-free experience that added to the overall sense of tranquility during my stay.

Location-wise, Island Flats couldn’t be more ideal. Situated in the heart of downtown San Diego, it provided easy access to the vibrant nightlife, amazing restaurants, and nearby grocery stores, all within walking distance. I truly felt immersed in the energy and excitement of the city, making it a perfect base to explore everything San Diego has to offer.

My stay at Island Flats was an absolute delight, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable experience in downtown San Diego. The only reason I left SD is to become a caregiver for my mom in another county. In short, Tamatha’s exceptional management, Bobbye’s helpfulness, and Kirk’s dedication to security were just a few of the reasons why I felt so at home during my time there. The cleanliness of the amenities, the well-equipped gym, the secure parking lot, and the incredible location only added to the overall charm of this remarkable establishment.”

  4. An affordable and convenient place for mid-term stay in San Diego! I recommend this place if the duration of your stay is between 2 weeks and 6 months.

Comparing to renting, they have basic furnitures like a bed, a chair, and a small table, which was a big plus. Attached photos are the model room.

It appears that there are bugs in some unit, but everything else was fine.

  5. I’ve been in the “family” for 2 years this location and a year at the Paris. I admit firstly that my expectations for customer service is HIGH! I don’t pretend or sugarcoat how I see things. So there is no misunderstanding. I moved from a large unit to a smaller unit w/balcony and was under the impression the transfer would be as it was when I moved from a smaller unit to a bigger unit. After I moved and turned the keys in I received an email from the Property Manager-we will call her Ms T. It denoted a lot of numbers and when I figured the prorated amount plus $5-she would not take cash, it came to $7.07 plus my rent for April. Only I was being charged for a damaged chair $169, resurfacing bathtub and countertops, painting the unit and she forfeited my deposit. This added up to be over $1000. Which I received this email on Friday just before she left for the weekend, with a HAVE A NICE WEEKEND. I asked to go to the apt and she said I didn’t charge for flooring, cleaning or blinds. She said it was renovated when I moved in 2 years ago and it was her right to charge me and that I should have painted and fixed things before I left. I have lived all around the world and have never heard of any such requirements. Needless to say I was not very nice and I called her a name a couple times. Yesterday afternoon I received a notice of three day notice to perform or quit for harassment and if I do it again I will be evicted. This is absurd because if calling someone a name is harassment then I could’ve had a lot of people locked up and so could you just FYI stay clear of Righteous property managers.
