Really nice museum. Lots of cool art. Also had a kids section.
“Don’t go to a museum with a destination. Museums are wormholes to other worlds. They are ecstasy machines. Follow your eyes to wherever they lead you…and the world should begin to change for you.”
– Jerry Saltz
My first visit to the museum was quite extraordinary!
We were met at the door by a graceful, refined young woman from the museum staff who made us feel wholly at home instantly, and as we entered the innermost reaches of the museum, it was readily apparent that the museum is chic, elegant, and sophisticated, and oozing with good ole southern charm and gentility.
We went to hear Medal of Honor Recipient, Clinton Romesha, in a conversation with Lieutenant General Jim Pillsbury, USA (Ret.).
Yes, we were in “rare air” as Jay Town said as he eloquently and solemnly introduced Retired Staff Sergeant Romesha, one of about 3,500 heroic men and women who have been awarded the Medal of Honor.
We didn’t go looking for the extraordinary, but the extraordinary found us at the Huntsville Museum of Art.
Bravo!
The Huntsville Museum of Art is a beautiful, well maintained museum with permanent and rotating exhibits. The staff is friendly and informative.
Lovely museum! We deeply enjoyed our experience here. There were plenty of comfy benches for absorbing the works of art. A gem!
We recently attended the Huntsville Museum of Art to see their exhibit on the history of animation, not knowing fully what to expect. We were absolutely blown away to see original animation cels, storyboard art, and concept designs from many classic animated films from Disney, Warner Bros, Ralph Bakshi, Rankin-Bass, and more. This exhibit was incredibly informative and we love coming to the museum to see what travelling exhibits they have. While the museum itself is small, what they do with the space and budget is nothing short of astounding and is honestly one of our favorite art museums.
