  1. They gave us a dirty room first. Then after getting a clean room, they tried to give our room to someone else. Woke up at 3 am with someone trying to get in our room. Worst experience ever. We couldn’t go back to sleep after that. Even after choosing not to stay there any longer I was traumatized at my new hotel and had a hard time sleeping there too. 🤣😂 Anyway, our rental car got scratched up just sitting in their parking lot. The lobby smelled like someone threw up. The front desk agent in the morning when I checked out was very nice and refunded us for the rest of our stay as we checked out early. This hotel is about a 30 minute drive from the heart of San Diego, which is fine but it isn’t the best location. Definitely a truck stop kind of hotel imo.

  2. Checked in after midnight, went to my room, and immediately noticed a bad smell in the room, the window was open, and there were tufts of hair in the corners of the floor near the bathroom. I was hoping to fall into bed from exhaustion after a long day of travel when a cockroach ran up my arm. I immediately left the room and asked for a refund, which was refused.I spent 15 minutes on the phone finding another hotel and spent another $40 on a Lyft to get me out of there. Gross.i was offered another room, but who the hell wants to stay in a hotel with cockroaches?!
Management couldn’t care less. Don’t stay here.

  3. My key card expired everyday I was there. Front desk claimed my card was likely de-magnetized from my phone. I did not buy that as I keep my key cards in the same spot the last 10 years.
Tile was broken on the entrance of the elevator and caution tape lined with blue painters tape was the temporary fix. Was like that the week I was there.
Dumpster divers parked in parking lot and loading their vehicles with items. People living out of their vehicles parked in the rear of the building.
I checked out a day early. The morning of my early checkout, the front desk clerk did not know how to check me out early and give me a receipt. He told me that he has to wait for the manager to do it and she will send me a receipt. That never happened.
I called the next day and apparently I never checked out. The girl who answered told me that she needs to wait until 9:30 am to get this handled. That is the exact same thing the previous clerk told me. Not sure if this is how they are trained, but definitely very inconvenient.
I did not receive any receipt and had to call back in the afternoon. I spoke with the manager personally and finally received the receipt.
I am a Diamond Elite member as my colleagues are as well. They told me not to stay there as they had bad experiences as well. I decided to stay here because it was closer to the customer I was visiting. I will say this, I will not stay here again and will stay in Chula Vista.

  4. Just look at the other recent reviews…

I’ve stayed at this property on and off over the past five years and have witnessed its steady decline to Motel 6 quality.
The floors in the common areas and the room were stained and looked as though they had not been vacuumed in weeks.
The amount of sticky fingerprints in my room had me washing my hands after touching anything.
The window in the room had a tilted frame making it impossible to close the window fully- could see daylight through the gap.
The toilet must have been snaked multiple times because it was scratched and had brown rust stains all over the bowl.
The tub has been touched up with sprays of white spray paint by an amateur graffiti artist.
During their “refresh” new tile was put in the rooms but looks like they hired my 5-year-old nephew for this. Grout over an inch wide between some joints. Missing tiles where it would be hard to reach.
Not to mention the entire bottom six inches of the bathroom walls had the wallpaper replaced but with no effort to match it to the existing wallpaper.
I’m done with this property and HIGHLY RECOMMEND that IHG begin making monthly visits to this property until it is brought up to standard or stripped of its IHG status.
