Passing through the homeless camp adjacent to the parking lot set the vibe for this nasty surprise of hotel. It was expensive, but I wrongly assumed it was a Hilton so it would be clean and nice for the price. Walking into the lobby, it smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. The room smelled like mildew as another reviewer mentioned (I should have read reviews, rather than looking at rating). The real deal breaker was pillowcases looked like they had not been changed. The only decent service was the front desk who asked house keeping to bring new clean pillow cases and she did not blink an eye when I cancelled the remainder of my reservation. I do not recommend this hotel.
We are a family of 4 and got a room with two queen size beds for two nights. A little pricey for the type of hotel it turned out to be but itās San Diego so what do you expect with pricing. Room smelled like dirty socks right when we walked in and the beds and pillows were not comfortable at all. We were only in the room to sleep then go on with our business so we didnāt care too much. We noticed our card was charged twice for the same amount and we didnāt think of it much since a few hotels hold is as a deposit. Itās been more than a week and we still havenāt gotten refunded our money. Contacted them and no luck. We left that room better than how we got it so I donāt understand why they wouldnāt give us our money back.
Upon arrival we were told our room was not available due to overlooking. They offered a smaller room which wouldnāt accommodate my family. I countered with 2 adjoining rooms for the same price as the original because it was their fault. They declined. I walked away to discuss our options with my wife. About 10 minutes later a clerk came out to our car to inform us they had found a room with our original accommodations. A lot of unnecessary grief for nothing.
After reading some of the other reviews this hotel has a reputation of overlooking.
NOT A GOOD PRACTICE
The actual hotel experience was good, no big issues with that. It was clean, the water was hot, and the beds were fine. The only thing that I would warn people about is that behind the parking lot in the back there is a homeless encampment of many tents and cars. Nothing actually happened that was dangerous, and Iām not sure that the hotel can do much about that, but I feel like people should at least know this is there if theyāre bringing their families to stay here. Otherwise a nice hotel.
I think some of these reviews are a bit exaggerated. I had a very pleasant stay in the hotel except for a couple of minor things like not having a clock in the room, and sometimes only having lukewarm water for the shower. Overall it was clean, and had a nice atmosphere
