  1. I shop at Hills because of the convenience. I donā€™t use Hills for my large grocery purchases. They are too high .
Iā€™ve noticed that throughout the store the brands on the shelves are the highest and next to the highest.
Minute maid orange juices ( frozen) is all Iā€™ve found there for almost $5 a can .

Then, these young cashiers that are still in school or fresh out of school. They have no customer service training it appears.
They carry on conversations with each other as if the customer isnā€™t standing there.
Recently I went through the line of a young cashier. She never looked at me, never smiled. She scanned my items, told me the price. I paid and that was it.
She never thanked me or wished me a good day, etcā€¦ never looked at me .
After being done this way by several I ask her could she not just smile. S responded in a snappy tone. Itā€™s 9:00 in the morning so no.
I told her that she should go home and get her nap out if she didnā€™t want to work and give customer service.
The young ones donā€™t want to be bothered or work .. they want the pay check .

  2. This is a mainstay in my life. I am partial to Hillā€™s for many reasons. Let me say this. The employees at the registers have not changed in my memory. And the manager is one tough cancer beating, working while fighting it, working long hours during that time period also. She was just unstoppable and worked her way into the management position because she deserved it. I feel great that a small grocery store that has been right where it is and has only had one major sign change since I can remember. I say that in a good way. This is one of those places that a community has supported and shopped locally so that it is still up and running. People have retired from this grocery store. That is just not something you see these days as often as we would like to. Imagine Food Giant in Hueytown. Itā€™s much the same. Imagine Julianā€™s Hardware in Sylvan Springs. These are the small town stores that we just would not allow to be mowed over by a random conglomerate that truly doesnā€™t ever feel like a mainstay does like Hillā€™s.. love this place.
