Nice folks here, but I’m failing to see the appeal of the cost+10% deal. Checking prices against my usual stores (Winn-Dixie, Aldi, Publix, Target and Rouses in Baldwin County) I didn’t really find any bargains worth crowing about. Where they shine is in carrying some lesser known brands and speciality items like regionally-local meat products and Mexican goodies. The store itself is ancient and looks/smells like it’s never been updated since Eisenhower was in office. On the plus side, I did not find any expired or spoiled goods, which is something that is typical of way too many stores in our area.
Grocery outlet has definitely been through its changes in the last 15 or so years since it’s been open. For awhile it was kinda not what it use to be as far as value and quality goes. Kinda like jet lagged. The thing I really love about this store is they have a good butcher dept. So most of your meat is fresh cut daily by the butcher Now they have a kinda new night manager( he’s been there, but just got promoted I believe. He’s very friendly, seems to always have a smile and is helpful and social. I think it’s coming back slowly but surely and I enjoyed my last trip there and was satisfied with the prices as well.
I was curious about the deals and the produce inside anything labeled with ‘discount ‘and ‘groceries ‘.
There was a nice selection of fresh vegetables and fruit.
I’ll post a review update on the meat selection later. Various alcoholic selections.
Overall- it is a good place to check for canned food and pet products before hitting the usual crowded name brand stores.
Great produce, good prices. But the store itself needs a lot of attention. In the back there is a good chunk of floor that is very uneven and bumpy. The floors need the old wax stripped up and have new wax put back down.
But the prices are good.
Good place to shop. Don’t judge by the outside of the building. They have some great deals. Meat prices were less than other places. Will definitely return.
