I was so surprised when this particular chain came into Palo Alto since so many people in PA tend to protest what they consider “discount” stores because they feel it’s out of touch with the Palo Alto “brand.
We have lots of students with Stanford University and elderly people on fixed incomes; a store like this is very helpful to their budgets. The store takes snap EBT cards and I found out that you can buy starter vegetable plants for your garden and Snap will pay for it. I took this picture last weekend.
This location is a very nice store. It’s clean and it has a really decent selection of many favorites that you can get at any grocery store, but at Grocery Outlet for a much better price.
Best, the store is small, easy to navigate for somebody with mobility issues to go through and the employees are friendly and helpful.
Love this place! New surprises of products and low prices at every visit. Their ice cream freezer is incredible with lots of options. They also have a fitness section with protein and green drinks.
One of the best budget grocery store…. Stacks fresh produce and grocery at affordable price.. Good smiling customer service at all times…
This place sucks. They messed up all their inventory and even employees don’t know the location of certain items. Besides, ask yourself a question, why are you shopping in this grocery store when everything as expensive as in other stores. Just go somewhere else for better deals and quality.
After getting new owners and new staff, this store deserves a updated review. Below was my review a year ago. I left it here just to contrast. The new owners are very kind people, so are the staff now. They are nothing like the workers before. It made us feel comfortable again just like 10 years ago, probably even better. 5 star. Keep it up!

This store used to be our go-to place on weekends, and the owner is probably best best grocery outlet owner in Bay Area. However, the short Hispanic lady with brown hair is very rude, picking on customers and with zero hospitality. She discriminates customers based on her personal preference, sometimes picking up arguments and treats people like underlings. There are others who appreciate easy minimum wage jobs like this with better hospitality. One of the guys there used to be very nice, but quite mean and short tempered these days as well. Maybe it’s because the staff worked there for too long and no longer care about customers anymore …
