  1. My friends Nessa and Gabi had a terrible experience at Gold’s Gym in Goleta. They was promised a free week trial, but the staff pushed them into a $1 month trial, assuring them they wouldn’t be charged if they canceled in time. Despite following the rules, they got hit with a $60 fee and was treated with ignorance when they tried to sort it out.

It’s clear they didn’t take her seriously, likely because she’s a young woman. I’m really disappointed in how they handled this, and I wouldn’t trust this gym.

  2. I’m writing this review on behalf of my friend Vanessa, who had an awful experience at Gold’s Gym in Goleta. She and another friend were offered a “free week” trial, but the staff misled them into signing up for a $1 month trial, claiming there would be no additional charges as long as they canceled in time. They were assured multiple times that this would be the case.

When Vanessa tried to cancel before the deadline, she was hit with an unexpected $60 charge. Despite numerous calls and even visiting the gym in person, she was met with rude and dismissive behavior from the staff. For three months, her concerns were ignored, and it seemed like they didn’t take her seriously, likely because she’s a young woman.

It’s incredibly disappointing to hear how a trusted brand like Gold’s Gym engages in such deceptive practices and treats their customers so poorly. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone.

  3. My friend and I had a terrible experience at Gold’s Gym in Goleta. We were offered a “free week” trial, but the general manager pushed us into a $1 month trial instead, assuring us we wouldn’t be charged if we canceled before the 16th. Despite repeatedly asking for reassurance that no extra costs would be involved, we trusted them and signed a contract that was never shown to us.

When we tried to cancel before the deadline, we were hit with a $60 charge. We called countless times, but were constantly brushed off by rude staff. For three months, we were ignored and treated with zero respect—almost as if our concerns didn’t matter because we’re young women. This has been the most stressful experience of our summer, and we feel deceived and mistreated.

If you’re considering a membership at this location, be extremely cautious and don’t trust what they tell you without seeing the contract first. This gym does not care about its customers and engages in deceptive practices.

  4. the manager is a liar and a scammer do not go here. the manager lied to me and my friend told us we would only have to pay $1 for the first month as long as we cancelled within a month before the next billing cycle and he took all my bank info and we called before we were supposed to be billed and he tells us that we actually had to cancel within a week so we were both charged 60$. he told us to just pay it and request a refund he acted so nice like he wanted to help us so we paid it and he denied our refund request.

  5. BEWARE review x2. Came in on a 7day trial pass only to be told sold on membership plans and not being able to realize the free trial, but instead asked for $40 for a day pass—LAUGHABLE.

“Hector” the sales rep was incredibly pushy to gather my credit card info to charge me monthly when I was solely trying to check out the gym to see if it was a fit for me.

Needless to say I walked right out the door.
