  1. This is a very nice boutique hotel, almost a bed and breakfast. The grounds are very pretty and the room is nice. It all could use a little overhaul. For the expensive price of more than $800 per night, I was expecting a little more. Service was good, but very limited. The breakfast was outstanding. As in other reviews, the “ADA” rooms are not easy to get to and the path is not conducive for anyone with a disability. Lots of steps on the property. The location is pretty, but 15 minutes from town. It’s very nice if you’re looking for a quiet and peaceful bed and breakfast, but it’s pricey.

  2. We were thrilled with our stay here. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised by an upgrade to the zen ryokan suite, which was luxurious. The saltwater pool was nicely shaded by trees and a lovely place to hang out. Fresh fruit throughout the stay was great, and we also received complementary sake and bubbly for a birthday. Walkable to a few restaurants and shops in Glen Ellen for the cherry on top. We’ll be coming back and recommending to friends.

  3. Pre-arrival
The hotel sends an email with details of your stay. The email also contains a list of possible activities in the area. This was helpful.

The team got my room early and text me to let me know.

If you’re flying in, the Sonoma County Airport is about 20 minutes away.

    Arrival
It’s a long, winding road. The road goes through the woods.
Check-in was easy. And the front desk helped with my box.
The room was clean, air-conditioned and gorgeous.

    Wine hour
This is the time guests get to meet each other, talk about their trips. I wish more places had this initiative. I met several people this way which was great (especially as a solo traveler).

This place was a good place to rest and take stock of the year so far. I hope I can visit again.

It’s not the best place for people with mobility difficulties. There are stairs almost everywhere.

  4. Overall we had a blast at the hotel: great breakfast, great wine and cheese hour. Hot tub and year round heated pool. Our Zen suite had a great bathroom with a two person bath and two shower heads. So much fun.

Here are a few things that could be improved about the room:
    – find a way to block the light from the walkway outside the front door. Putting black plastic on it worked great but is not a permanent solution
    – turn of the garden spotlights at 10pm instead of having them on all night while pointing at the big windows in the bedroom
    – time for a new more comfortable mattress?
    – find a way to block the blue light from the refrigerator
    – make it so the tv can be seen from the bed without twisting your neck
    – turn of the outside music after 10pm to make it more peaceful

Oh and the massages were excellent but note they are on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator.

  5. Top notch and relaxed. So much to love I don’t know where to start. Great rooms – we even peeked into the spectacular Japanese style zen suites overlooking the river. The heated pool and hot tub and grassy lawn leading up to the riverfront fire-pit sitting. Next to that is the enclosed Yoga and meditation room. There is a relaxing large deck on the main building overlooking the pool area with a large fire-pit and comfortable seating and tables and awning. Inside are the Breakfast area, 2 common rooms with fireplaces- one where the do wine tasting and charcuterie at 5:00 and the other has the complementary port and saki for tasting area. Plus a couple block walk into downtown Glen Ellen The staff are. Superb
