Docâs Garage Promised and Delivered.
After 30 years I have finally been able to restore my 1970 Camaro.
No easy task I might add. After many weekends of driving to different restorations shops around the San Fernando Valley to find someone to do the work. It was clear that Jason and Docâs garage were the right people to do the job.
Jason was knowledgeable, professional and just right out an awesome guy. I had Jason upgrade all the electrical and replace the entire dashboard to start off my restoration and the work came out great! I couldnât be happier and would strongly recommend Jason for any classic car restoration needs!
(I have included before and after pics of the work)
Outstanding service and quality work from Hot Rodders and Restorers who will also repair and maintain classic vehicles.
Itâs hard to find: there may not even be a street sign, and you have to drive down an alley of other shops, to the end on the left. Three bays that you will invariably find filled with extremely cool-looking hot rod resto-rigs. Itâs there though, just go down to the end.
If youâve got a solid budget and a dream to make something fantastic, youâll be impressed by the other vehicles you see in the queue. If youâve just got an old car or truck that youâd like to preserve or maintain, theyâll do that, too, and thatâs exactly what Jason and his crew have done for my single-owner 1964 GMC pickup truck.
If you use code: NOT REALLY, they give you a free puppy, too..
Late review, but finally getting around to it. I had Docs Garage do an electrical overhaul on my 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS in Nov of 2021. I had them fix my rear tail lights, install a complete radio system, fix my interior courtesy lights, glove box light, replace my vacuum controlled broken hideaway headlight system with an electrically powered one, and fix my blinking headlights that wouldnât always stay on with the car. All of that was done to the tune of $4,190. I knew that this was a lot of work and a high price to pay. But I had given them a complete call sheet of the repairs necessary and set my appointment a few weeks out to complete.
So why the 2 stars? My biggest concern with the car at the time was nighttime driving. Not having my headlights working properly was gambling with the safety of doing that. When I picked up the car I was pretty much right away given a disclaimer that âthe headlights werenât working a 100% and might need to be totally re-wiredâŠâ Which I found a pretty odd thing to say to a customer after Iâm supposed to be picking it up fixed. That was a priority to repair and they had to already completely remove the headlights to install the electrically operated hide-away headlight system. Not only that, but they forgot to repair a broken hinge in the headlight system that I had given them a new replacement part for. This would have taken 1/4 of the time to do with the headlight assembly already removed from the car.
Pretty much within a week off the lot I started to notice my headlights blinking again at random worse than when I dropped the car off. I lived with the car like this for almost a year before I finally found a local auto electrician to fix them for $500. They informed me that both headlights were improperly grounded and they put in my replacement hinge Docâs forgot.
Seeing how I paid at Docâs $500 for troubleshoot and diagnostic, $1000 for the hideaway headlight swap, and an other $500 for ârepairing of faulty headlight connections and groundsâ , only now I know I way overpaid for service that was done incorrectly. They did a great job with the radio, all the other electrical repairs, and the car was delivered back to me cleaner and detailed more than any other mechanic has ever returned the car. I just wish they had spent less time detailing the car and more time on the headlights. For paying $2K alone to work with the headlights, they should have been correctly wired.
Great shop. So glad my friend recommended Docâs. I send anyone I meet with a classic ride to Docâs. Smart, clean, fast, and super knowledgeable. I have a stock 1950 truck, but I always check out the custom work they are doing when I stop by. Muscle Cars, Street rods, custom classics, stock daily drivers, they know how to get you running right.
Jason (âDocâ) provides great service at reasonable rates.
He took great care of my precious old Chevelle and Iâm sure heâll do the same for you!
He really understands how important these vehicles are to their owners and treats each job with respect and honor. If youâve been looking for someone you can trust, this is it.
