After an extremely trying day of driving a U-Haul with broken AC we arrived sweaty and melted to the Courtyard Montgomery. We were greeted by the friendly staff who eased our tensions with so many greetings and smiles. Our overnight stay lingers in my mind, in my many travels I have never had staff come talk to me on a personal basis, checking to see how we were doing and engaging us in conversation. I asked several members why they were so happy, was it the manager or training. They said they were happy because it made no sense to work in the people industry and not enjoy meeting and talking to them as well. Bravo Courtyard Marriott staffers Brandon Collins and Quinetta, our fabulous cook.
Worse Courtyard we have ever stayed in and I have stayed in a lot traveling for business. Carpet in hall was terrible. Tile around shower was coming loose from the wall. Very run down. Staff was very cordial. It was at least 80 in the lobby, staff had to have fans at the counter. Would not recommend this hotel. Marriott is much better than this.
Let me start by saying that i stayed the night here in 2020 with my children and had no issues whatsoever, but we decided to stay again after all this time and from the time we checked in, i regretted the decision. We stayed saturday july 27th and checked out today, July 28th. The room looked like it was rushed to be cleaned, i was very hesitant to sleep underneath the covers, we asked a heavy set african american lady for towels seeing as though our room was only supplied for a stay of 2 people, maybe 3 and it was 4 of us, in which she replied with a smirk āweāre all out of big and little towelsā so we had to go and purchase the additional ones we needed from a nearby store. A couple hours later we passed by the front to go to the fitness center and there was another african americal male there so i asked of they had any towels, which he replied sure, so long story short it seemed as if the lady at the front just did not want to get up and check. The original lady was not inviting and just jad a demeanor as of she did not want to be bothered. In order to get into any of the side doors a key card is needed, so we had all pf our bags in hand coming up to the side door only to find out that none of them actually work because theyāre waiting to get a new system. And lastly, our check out time was 12 noon but at 955 on the dot housekeeping knocked on the door. In my opinion, this hotel was not worth the 120+. I would highly suggest finding another room and this facility getting more custer service oriented employees as the āfaceā of their business.
Listen. You donāt want it. Iām telling ya. Iām not boojie and this is below my standards. Itās just extremely outdated. The location is very urban. We parked directly under a street lamp and brought in all valuables. Now, The AC in my room worked great- THANK GOD. The mattresses were actually comfortable and CLEAN. I peeled back all the bedding to see what looked like new mattresses. However there were major signs of wear and tare in the room. The AC at the front desk did NOT. Those poor employees š«. Sherice at the front desk was kind and helpful. If you arenāt familiar with this area- you want to book a hotel on East chase Parkway. Little more expensive but you wonāt worry about ur vehicles.
This property is the absolute worst hotel Iāve ever stayed in! Understand that I am a Marriott Titanium Member. That means I spend a minimum of 75 nights each year in Marriott. So I see a lot of hotels. First off, MY ROOM DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK! Thatās right, my room would open up without a key. I didnāt even realize it until I came back from dinner around 10 pm. The front desk clerk came up to look at it and walked into my room without knocking. She said she did this to verify it didnāt lock. She should have knocked. She claimed that the hotel was booked and I couldnāt have a different room. She advised me to place the swing lock to make sure I had no issues that night.
Additionally, bathroom sink was completely clogged, bed was lumpy as h$&&, for some reason, they halfway painted the elevator door black with runny spray paint. A local resident was repairing his hooptie in the parking lot. And the sound of gunfire and sirens serenaded me throughout the night, coming from the less than desirable neighborhood surrounding the hotel.
I was supposed to stay two nights but checked out the next morning. As I checked out, I spoke with the manager who apologized and offered to make it right with an abundance of points. After a week and multiple phone calls she gave me a meager 1500 points. This was an insult. A decent hotel is 30000 points a night. That seems like a reasonable amount.
This hotel doesnāt deserve the Marriott name. The employees and management arenāt worthy of working at the city dump and the franchise owner she lose their franchise. Unless you want the worst possible experience, stay somewhere else.
