Horrible experience. The store representatives were friendly, and that was about the only positive. I went online to do an appraisal and explained my car condition. Called in to ask if the offer is correct based on the conditions, they said yes. Went in store with the car and let them know the condition, they dropped the offer by 3500. So i needed to pay the difference , no problem. I had to come back with the money the following week on my next off day, the offer then changed to 500. The car exterior and interior were excellent, brand new tires, tune up, 2 new batteries (accessory battery and standard), new radiator, upper and lower hose, new thermostat, the car just wouldn’t catch to crank and I explained this and they inspected the car on arrival. Highly dissatisfied, especially with a 2018 Jeep Compass , was offered $500. I guarantee they will fix the issue and sell it for a hell of a lot more.
Tried to sell our car to Carmax at the Montgomery location but left disappointed and frustrated. We received an instant offer online and scheduled an appointment for 1:30pm the following day to bring it to the store for an appraisal. We thought that a 1:30pm appointment actually meant 1:30pm, but were incorrect. When we arrived, a staffer told us to have a seat and that someone would be with us shortly. 30 minutes later at 2:00pm he came back and asked us to scan a QR code to “check-in”, so we sat in a waiting room 30 minutes past our scheduled time before we were ever actually checked-in. We waited another 15 minutes without any further interaction with the staff before asking if we would be seen soon. At this point (45 minutes past our scheduled appointment time), the staff member apologized for the delay and said we were being prioritized and that hopefully someone would be available within the next 15 minutes. For those still keeping track, he was offering the possibility that we would start our appointment over an hour past the scheduled appointment time. He gave an excuse of prioritizing appointments, but that they also had other appointments and walk-in appointments and they ran over. I asked what was the point of scheduling an appointment, and he gave me a line about how they are prioritized, but the store only had 3 associates available. Apparently Carmax will allow you to schedule as many appointments as you like, but it is a gamble of whether they actually have anyone to help you at that time. It feels as if the goal is to say anything to get you into the store and once there you are on their time and they no longer respect your time as customer. It felt very much like a slimy used car dealership experience that we were trying to avoid.
They were wonderful!! I’m a mom of 3 and had to bring them with me . The staff was kind and patient with me through the whole process . I went in to trade my car and I knew nothing about the process. They made it so easy for me , they made sure I understood and made sure I was comfortable the entire time . I walked out the happy owner of a 2019 Chevy equinox.
Didn’t get all repairs completed on scheduled day but Lindsay is a work horse and set up repairs with a more skilled vendor. She is great. CarMax should be proud to have her!
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to purchase a car from this place. I purchased a car from here a year ago and it was patched to sell. They told me they couldn’t or wouldn’t fix it because I probably did it myself. This car has been submerged underwater the inside is rusted under the carpet, and that’s just the big thing I spoke with them about. They didn’t have any kind of sympathy and they knew they got over. I’ll ride a bike before I go back to CarMax in Montgomery Al!
