  1. My husband and I went to this store early in the morning. I got 1 fuzzy squash from the produce section. In the squash section, the price is listed as $0.99 / lb, but right after checking out and getting the receipt, I noticed that the cashier scanned it as $1.99 / lb instead. Iā€™m still at the store so I notified the cashier that the store has it listed as $0.99 / lb and showed the cashier the picture of the price section I had taken while shopping. Iā€™m not sure if the cashier understood but she said that the price of the squash is $1.99 / lb. I then told her that I want to return the squash.

The cashier then took the squash and brought it to the Asian man employee (manager?) to refund. I told my husband to give the Asian man the receipt so he can refund it (after all, whenever you do a refund at a business, they ask for the receipt right?). The Asian employee asked my husband why was there 2 receipts (we the customer had the original receipt that the cashier gave us and the 2nd one might have been a newer one that he himself printed afterwards, Iā€™m not sure.).

Then instead of talking with my husband and continuing with completing the refund with him, he leaves his office and all of a sudden the Asian employee started to yell at me in a loud voice saying heā€™s going to refund my money back etc. Itā€™s early in the morning and he is yelling loud in the store in front of over 20 or so people (customers and employees). I was not rushing him or anything, only making sure that he, the employee or whatever, had the grocery receipt so that he can complete the refund.

I have gone to this store multiple times for over a decade, and I have often noticed that the price that they have listed for produce sometimes differs from what the cashier puts into the checkout system when scanning. I didnā€™t do anything wrong, Iā€™m over 50 years old, so to get spoken to in a loud yelling voice early in the morning makes me quite angry and this is not a good way to treat your customers.

I have also included a picture of the pricing of the squash section. As you can see, it shows that both Bangli & Fuzzy Squash is 99 cents a lb. It is the responsibility of the business to ensure that the pricing that they have on their products is correct. If itā€™s not and the customer wants to do a return / refund, then calmly accept it instead of being bitter about it and acting as if itā€™s the customerā€™s fault.

  2. ONLY PAY IN CASH! Workers are rude and most donā€™t speak English. They raise the prices higher due to them being the only ā€œinternational marketā€ in Montgomery. Great finds, produce section is the best thing they have. Thereā€™s a store in the back with no menu, just glaring faces. Other than that, itā€™s a 6/10.

  3. This location is the former Winn-Dixie store. Anyway, there are lots of exotic foods to include endless varieties of many cultural finds. If youā€™re looking for a certain spice, produce, meat or seafood, this place has it! Whether youā€™re looking for all things Asian, African, Middle-Eastern, Indian, Mexican, South American, or whatever. This place probably has it! Theyā€™re prices are competitive with other stores and the store -brand vendor they use is the same one as Renfroes of which I forgot the actual name. That being said, their prices can be expensive. If youā€™re looking for just the basics, this place is too expensive. Otherwise, enjoy the experience.

  4. Always enjoy grocery shopping at Capitol. Fresh produce is on point, seafood counter knows appropriate cuts per request, they also keep their work area clean after every order done. Their international aisles are well stocked and never disappoints. Best of all, they do not exaggerate their product pricing.

  5. Another contradiction in Montgomery. Normally I wouldnā€™t buy groceries from a place this rundown. But I just think of it as an international farmers market indoors. The selection is immense and about every country is represented and even though itā€™s in a worn out Winn Dixie itā€™s organized and stocked. Itā€™s more of an experience to shop here and that increases the score.
