  1. My cost (low even with a high deductible) treatment (exceptional) wait times for appointments (short) and the knowledge of my doctor (Kansara) were all better than I’ve experienced in a long time. From the smiling and kind X-Ray tech, to the front desk staff (both over the phone and in person) and my doctor’s assistant (Grace or Gracie?), all were so helpful and did their best to get back to me quickly. Fast, efficient, kind, affordable – knowledgeable. For those that may have had a bad experience, make sure you are not the problem (not saying you are) because sometimes when we are in pain, or have other things going on, we may be difficult to deal with. Don’t be one of those people! Lol

  2. Came here for a second opinion when I broke my finger. The Doctor merely examined my finger, spent less than 10 minutes on my case. He told me I didn’t need any additional care, and that it looked like the finger nail wouldn’t fall off. He was wrong, it did fall off, and I was billed $678 for a doctor to simply look at my finger and give me wrong information. The office has predatory billing practices. They began sending threatening letters about payment less than 2 weeks after the first bill was mailed to me. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this practice.

  3. My Dad has been in care of Dr. Kansara for his total knee replacement. Dr. Kansara is a straight shooter and told my Dad that you need to get it replaced, My dad think it was the best decision. It has been 4 weeks and he is walking, working and sleeping well. He is ready for his 2nd knee. The Force app was nice, Staff is just a 1 phone call away. I am glade we found this office.

  4. I have had 2 surgeries with part replacements and a broken wrist all taken care of here at California Orthopedics Institute over the last 10 years. I have found their staff to be friendly and efficient and the Doctors to be outstanding. I have recommended them often and will continue to do so.

  5. Echoing a lot of what’s already been said in the negative reviews for this place. The doctors seem like they know what they’re doing, but the rest of the staff are completely incompetent.
Dr. Schulz saw me and told me someone would call me to schedule an MRI. Every subsequent interaction with this clinic was like pulling teeth. I never got a call back about the MRI. Any time I tried to call the clinic back, no one picked up. I drove back to the clinic to speak to someone in person, and again someone assured me I’d get a call tomorrow to schedule it. Once again, the call never came. Finally after driving back to the clinic AGAIN to speak to someone in person AGAIN, I learned Cigna had refused to authorize the MRI claim because I didn’t get an xray done first. Insurance is always annoying, but an Ortho clinic should know to do an xray first for insurance purposes, and it’s insane to not call a patient back to notify them. I scheduled a follow up to get the xray done, and they tried to charge me for another doctor visit rather than just the xray. After the xray I again was told they’d submit the MRI authorization and get a call back to schedule it. Waited another week, never got a call, and deja vu, couldn’t get anyone on the phone to ask about it. After going in AGAIN, I learned that no one had actually bothered to send the xray results to Cigna to get the MRI authorization.
It was a solid two months of dealing with this place before I finally got results back from an MRI. Now a year later I’m still having problems with my knee
and I can’t help but think the two months of dealing with this place to learn what the injury was, and how to treat it, might have prevented me from healing properly. Plenty of other good ortho clinics in SD– don’t go to this one.
