Nearly impossible to get help getting a construction loan. I’m still trying but doesn’t look helpful at all. Way too much red tape for so little funding, and no real assistance at all. When I called, she said she’d send me an email link. Then I’m on my own to try to decipher link after link after link of how to’s and what’s what’s! Not helpful at all. I’ve been reading and researching on various ways to buy my first home for over 10 years, still trying to figure things out!
I am a mortgage advisor and have used CALHFA 1st time buyer programs ever since I started in the industry 35 years ago. It has helped hundreds of my homebuyers be able to purchase their first home when they otherwise would not have been able to. I believe in California it is the best first time buyer assistance product available as of April 1st, 2021. In my opinion it is better than the grant programs that are out there.
2 years of living in my new home I lost my job, keep my home California was there to help and they was very fast, I did not even go into foreclosure, I was able to stay in my home. I would like to see this program continually funded by the government.
