Came to San Diego for the first time for a wedding and heading back home the next day. I’ve never stayed in a hostel before and didn’t know what to expect. this place was awesome, all staff are super friendly, guests were also very friendly, the room had 4 bunks, bed was actually very comfortable, and lockers to keep stuff safe (although i felt very safe here). they provided breakfast, there’s also a supermarket a block over, down the main street there’s a bunch of coffee shops, small restaurants, and corner stores. the area was very nice! i can’t think of any negative thing about this place. the planes are kinda loud but being close to the airport is super convenient. i will definitely come back next time i come here!
This hostel is both a fantastically maintained place, and it is a home to some truly heart-warming, and compassionate people who run, and manage California Dreams Hostel.
Yaady- super friendly front desk assistant- and the manager Marcella handled my last minute reservation in a timely manner, and resolved all of my special inquiries in the most friendly, compassionate, and supportive manner you could possibly imagine while traveling.
All of the facilities are immaculately clean, and fresh despite the number of occupants. The kitchen is spacious, it feels at home, and it literally invites you to cook. The team members have a regular calendar of really fun events, and they engage guests with both outdoor activities, and art projects, and even karaoke. Broadway lovers will certainly feel at home.
This place is all about good people taking care of the travelers while creating a sense of community, and a mutual support system for those who cross paths with them. It really is a very special, and a unique place. Thank you Yaady, and Marcella, and everyone involved! I will be coming back!
Everybody here has been so helpful and nice and I have appreciated it so very much. I am so truly thankful for the staff here. They all have above and beyond. I have had trouble w my bank and they were kind till it worked out shortly after. I am a solo traveler. It felt safe.
Staff were fantastic Yaady, Andrea, Laney, Ana, Mo, Marcella, Sam and Lateefa. Were all extremely friends, kinda, caring and brought irresistible vibe to the hostel. Always making sure to greet guest and make sure they were doing well, very caring and considerate people. Over my 8 nights didn’t have a single disappointing day. The place was always clean and welcoming, breakfast was always great and staff were always attentive. Couldn’t have been any happier with my stay, definitely worth the effort to come here.
The best hostel in the US. I have been all over the country and no hostel came close to the atmosphere I experienced here. The employees were so warm and passionate about their work, it was unbelievable. You felt right at home. And of all the staff, Sam stuck out by really making my stay (Shout out and many thanks for this insane level of hospitality and coolness!). Really wow.
Besides the great atmosphere, the hostel offered awesome and clean facilities and the best hostel breakfast – they even had vegan milk alternatives (Never experienced that in a hostel!).
