We spent a couple nights here. It is very welcoming and the pool was nice for the family to relax in after hiking in Indian canyon nearby. There is food across the parking lot and a bar with very strong drinks. We wish would of stayed an additional day or two. So we will definitely be coming back again for another vacation. The price is family friendly and everyone seemed so happy to be there. Most of the neighboring rooms had friendly people staying as well. Pretty low key for palm springs and the tiki theme is great throwback to a different time in palm springs. I really would recommend this location if you are just looking to get away for a couple days.
Don’t know if I posted a review last summer or not but I loved it. Rooms are clean and when you’re in Palm Springs or on any vacay you don’t stay in your rooms except to shower and sleep🤷♂️. I enjoyed relaxing poolside or in the hot tub with the Hawaiian music. Perfect view of the mountain by the pool. I like to try different hotels or would stay here again in heartbeat. Been to PS many times but this time I enjoyed staying on the property, rather than drive around seeing places cod already seen experienced. Restaurant on site along with a poolside bar and you can order dinner to go take it back to your room and watch a movie. Enjoyed eating dinner in the bar one night too. Beautifully lit up at night. Maybe the Hawaiian experience is a little cheesy these days 65 years after the Hawaii cease if the 60’s but for a retro no frills inexpensive quiet relaxing place THIS IS IT.
We had to flee the Caliente Tropics! It was so cute outside. We took lots of pictures and truly enjoyed the restaurant, bar and pool. I requested a renovated room on the second floor when I originally booked via telephone in February, which is what I had read in recent reviews at the time was the way to go. I asked again when I called the morning we checked in like the staff told me to, as renovated rooms are first-come, first-serve, and at the time of actual check-in. The pleasant lady at the desk said all of the renovated rooms were actually on the first floor and she was giving us one. It definitely wasn’t recently renovated as shown in the photos on the website. The AC unit appeared to be quite old and couldn’t keep up with the 110 degree heat. We were cooking until the wee hours of the morning.
We had planned to talk to the staff in the morning and try to get a different room because we had booked for two nights, but then we found a huge cockroach in the shower. We decided to just leave, even though they don’t do refunds. We got a nice, cool room at the Best Western, thank goodness! We did notice that renovations appeared to be in progress on the other side of the property from where we stayed, so there is hope yet!
To add insult to injury, we were in such a hurry to leave that we forgot two swimsuits and two coverups on the hanger on the back of the bathroom door. My husband tried to go back later that afternoon before the next person checked in and was allowed to look in the room, but it had already been cleaned and nothing was turned in by housekeeping. How disappointing!
Been coming here at least once a year for an annual event for over 10+ years. I have a history and love for this place so it saddens me to see the shape of the hotel. It has progressively gone down hill. For a while we had high hopes they could bring it back to its glory, but not so. The bar, restaurants and pool carry the hotel and if it wasn’t for them, not sure they would make it with so much else to offer in PS. The rooms need major help! It could be so great, especially with the other hotels in the area stepping it up. It’s been the same horrible mattress for 10+ years. This time we had no clock, no phone, no dresser! There is no place to put your clothes! They offered more hangers but not everything needs to be hung. They removed the well worn upholstered furniture for plastic tables and chairs. All the handy man work is done with minimal care or tact. I work in design and It wouldn’t take much to get this place looking good and could easily warrant better prices. The “dumping” area by the gym has looked like that for years! Very disappointing
Love the tropical feel, and the pool area is great! Rooms are clean and staff is friendly. Definitely affordable rates considering it’s Palm Springs, and even though I live here, I like to step away and stay here on occasion. I definitely recommend!
