Yes the food is overpriced but it wasn’t surprising for me, given its location and clientele. The ambience was too cool and unique for me. The menu consists of modern takes on classic traditional Indian food. I really liked the White Butter Chicken and Chur Chur Naan combo. The Kesari Lassi enhanced the dining experience. Located inside the National Crafts Museum, you can explore the property, before or after your food.
The menu boasts a variety of North Indian delicacies, including specialties from Himachal and Uttarakhand states. The flavors were authentic, reminiscent of home-cooked meals, and truly a treat for the taste buds.
What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional service. Despite arriving close to closing time, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. Our waiter was incredibly humble and apologetic, even though the kitchen had to close shortly after we placed our order. This level of dedication and hospitality is rare to find.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a break from Delhi’s hustle and bustle. Just make sure to plan your visit at least a couple of hours before closing time to fully enjoy the experience.
Café Lota is a charming, open-air café located in the heart of Delhi, within the Crafts Museum complex, just steps away from the National Museum. It offers a contemporary take on regional Indian cuisine, serving delicious and innovative dishes made from local ingredients. The rustic ambiance, set against the backdrop of traditional crafts, creates a serene yet vibrant atmosphere. It’s an ideal spot for art lovers, tourists, and food enthusiasts alike, offering a relaxing escape from the city’s hustle while exploring India’s rich cultural heritage.
I recently visited Café Lota in Delhi and had the pleasure of trying a few of their dishes. The Appam with Kerala stew was a delightful combination, full of rich, authentic flavors. The Paneer Pasanda with Lacha Paratha was equally impressive, offering a perfect balance of spices and textures. The Kumaoni Thali was a highlight, showcasing a variety of regional specialties that were both unique and delicious. Palak patta chaat is their bestseller. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience with distinctive and tasty food.
Food and presentation is good, no doubt about that. But service is really slow and lot of mosquitoes around, so it will be difficult at times to enjoy your meal. They apply default service charge of 10% on bill amount.
