  1. Lovely hotel, good value and fab for a 2 star hotel.

We had the pool to ourselves most days which was lovely.

Yes the elevator isn’t working but it’s not too far to the top floor. The room needed a bit of maintenance (a few tiles missing in the bathroom) but had a cool retro vibe. The beds were very comfy.

Most of the staff on the front desk were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is on a busy road but next to a cool diner with great food. Lovely residential area nearby.

Not a luxury hotel but great for what you pay.

  2. Nice location, good value, clean. However condition of the furniture and carpets leaves a lot to be desired- i.e. missing pieces of carpet in the room, chair and table legs covered in dents, scratches, even holes in the desk. Also worth noting, as in other reviews, they seem in no hurry to finish elevator repairs. It is still inoperable (as of Sept 2024); you must carry luggage upstairs if you are not assigned a ground floor room. Daily housekeeping is not provided. A sign at the desk gave me the impression however your room would be cleaned at a set time if you ask.

  3. Last minute deal led us to this place. It is SO CUTE! They capture the essence of the 1950’s vintage hotel, but its all new stuff. They keep the property very clean, and there’s a diner on the first floor if you want to grab some mid priced diner food. Neighborhood is actually okay. Homeless aren’t really seen, and it touches a nice and well kept residential neighborhood. We felt save. Parking is a nightmare in their basement. Just have the valet do it for you, which is free. Would recommend

  4. Hotel is as shown in photos with a great mid-century modern styling throughout. The hotel is clean and well kept. The central pool area is really nice for a few areas of downtime. Expect a crowd of mostly couples in their 20s-30s.

Despite the positives above I’m not sure I would return. Guests can expect a $35/day surprise fee when you arrive. It’s explained that this fee is to help maintain the pool, and provide service to the hotel. To me these are items that should be covered through the room cost. Going back through the process it seems this fee is not clearly advertised during the booking process – many of the guest complaints and phone calls I overheard seem to confirm this.

What really rubbed us the wrong way was that despite requesting daily service the room was never cleaned during our 3 day stay. It’s hard to swallow $105 in additional fees when the service doesn’t seem to show those funds being put to good use.

  5. I WANT to like this place. It has the makings of a hotel experience that could be good. Starting off with the worst of it, the one and only elevator is down for repairs and has been for a long time. If you have luggage you’ll need to carry it up flights of very narrow and very uneven steps. It’d be nice if they told you this up front during booking, or even at the front desk, but they only tell you after you’ve checked in with a hold on your card. You’re committed at that point. Besides that, the only staff that seemed to care were the valets and the housekeeping ladies. They were all very pleasant and full of smiles. The front desk staff? I listened to them tell an older gentleman that his concerns about The places safety and the safety of those staying there, having found exterior gates all propped open and unlocked, weren’t their problem. I seldom felt an ounce of concern about the quality of our stay, or an ounce of empathy about having to carry a load of luggage up three flights of steps.

I want to like the place, but the fact is that the venue doesn’t care enough about you to care whether you enjoy your stay there.
