Similar experience to the 1 star ratings. Me and my landlord bought a used fridge that was infested with German cockroaches. We had to remove the fridge entirely and while we were moving it cockroaches were excessively falling from the beta appliances fridge. I had a panic attack and my landlord tried to move the refrigerator by himself and ended up with 6 staples in his head and we had to pay $400 for bug control to come in. I have left a Yelp review and no one has contacted me to offer a refund or pick up the fridge. I also called the company asking for a manager still waiting to hear back. If you want to pay $455 for a infested fridge then $1000 for other charges be my guest.
My landlord ordered a refrigerator through Beta. They sold them a 24 year old refrig and covered up the manufactured date with a Beta sticker probably in hopes no one would realize how old it was. The refrig seemed to work fine the first month. Then it slowly lost the ability to stay cold enough.Beta came out to trouble shoot the issue.
The service guy Sonny started touching all the items in the refrig and said
” it all feels cold, so just your milk and yogurt isnt getting cold enough?”
I couldnt belive the question. Clearly if my milk and yogurt are not getting cold enough, either are my other food items. I had three digital thermometers that all showed the refrig temp was between 42 -47 degrees (the temp should be 40 degrees or lower). He told me that they are not reliable because the temperature fluctuates.
Of course the temperature is going to fluctuate but it needs to stay within a safe temp zone while it fluctuates. Sonny told me the refrig was working fine. I asked if he had some sort of thermometer to measure the temperature. Sonny replied “we don’t use those”.
Then he informed me that when it is really hot outside refrig temperatures can’t stay as cold as usual.
My apartment never gets above 80 degrees plus i am the only one living here so the refrig door isnt open as much as the average household. Sonny tried to convince me the refrig was working fine.
Also, when it was delivered it had a broken wheel that im sure wasnt overlooked by Beta. When they backed it into the kitchen they had to have noticed the wheel was broken…even if they did over look it, the refrig did not sit level, which was odvious. Therefore when the door would be pushed to close, the door would almost closd but then start to swing open. So every time i opened the refrig i had to really push it to close.
Sonny agreed to rdplace the wheel but it would have taken at least a few weeks because that wheel was on back order (they should have ordered a wheel the day it was delivrred)…oh thats right. they didnt notice it…eye roll.
Lastly when they delivered the refrig they sprayed a very strong cleaning substance into the refrig because of “covid”. It was so strong my eyes watered. Before i could put my food inside i had to pull out all the shelves and drawers to clean off whatever they had spayed inside, plus wipe down the interior and freezer.
My property manager had to replace this junk pile.
It seems as though they find free refrig on craigslist etc and fix them to sell. Or when they sell you a refrig they pick up your old one to fix and sell. Beta also has an appliance repair business, so it all makes since.
Overall a waist of time, energy and money.
My fridge died yesterday. With the pandemic no retailer had a new one in stock. Was able to get a good condition working used refrigerator delivered by 1pm the same day. Sunny was very nice and helpful.
These guys are great. I have used them a few times and always same day delivery, product lasts for years. They will come service it right away if their is any problems after they install. Great prices for second hand appliances and the people are polite and knowledgeable.
Terrible place. They make money taking advantage of people by selling faulty equipment that will break quickly after 30 days and then charging for repairs.
I’ve used the machine 4 times and supposedly got it fixed yesterday. Running the washer and once again tripped my electric (dangerous) and stopped in the middle of my wash. Ugh. And they take days to come repair and aren’t nice about it. I never write reviews, but I’m hopeful this will help someone else.
