Perfect location, excellent service. I had an easy and comfortable stay could not ask for more the staff was super friendly! Kevin with housekeeping made sure we had everything we needed for our room. Kevin is was super amazing he was so friendly and his customer service and hospitality was top notch his interpersonal skills was top notch as well. He was so kind I wish we had services like that at other hotels we had stayed at! I wished there was more Kevin’s like him at hotels that we have stayed at!!!
Our annual college move out for our daughter! Didn’t realize I booked this beautiful room until I arrived. We have always wanted to book here. It is a beautiful hotel 😍 Clean and safe. We had an amazing views. Literally walking distance to everything in Old Town, loved it. My walks with my son were FAB. We definitely coming back.
Do not stay here with small children…. Where do start? I have stayed at Best Westerns all over this country and this location was by far the worst. First, the hotel appears to have a beautiful property but as you take a closer look the hotel is falling apart. There was leaks in the ceiling, we had a centipede in our room, window locks were broken and we had to tape up the blinds for privacy. The pool wasn’t clean, all the elevator were raggedy and not properly inspected (the inspection expired march of 2024) and to top it off the property isn’t secure from the outside foot traffic.
There was an attempted abduction from one of the rooms off the Plaza. The window lock was broken and at 3am a man broken in and tried to steal a little girl. The cops were called and the hotel staff was notified. Funny enough the next day staff had no idea this happened and were totally clueless.
I NEVER post reviews. HOWEVER, I was very compelled to write this review. My husband booked this hotel for our anniversary /my birthday celebration. He did not bother to read the reviews or noticed that it only had 3.2 stars. When I realize that, I panicked and thought that we would be staying at a dump. I quickly made alternate reservations without his knowledge, and figured if we got there, and it was a dumb, I would be ready to leave to the other reservation.
Well, I’m here to say that, fortunately, and thankfully, I could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. Is it the Ritz Carlton, or the Waldorf Astoria? No it’s not. It is a very cute, quaint, old school, Hacienda, style, lovely, charming hotel. I did not experience a single thing that was negatively address in any of the other reviews. Quite the contrary. We stayed in room 211. Yes, the furniture is on the older side with some scratches and where in tear. But it is completely clean. The beds/linens and towels were all very clean and comfortable. Yes, the bathroom is a bit outdated, but it is spotless. I had no issues with water pressure. I had no issues with mold. Again, none of the things that I read negatively in other reviews were present.
Upon check-in, the staff was very welcoming. Despite the fact that there was a long line of people, waiting to check in, they were very pleasant and without it, expeditiously checked us in. Yes you have to pay for parking but they offered a five dollar discount for AAA members. Yes the parking and elevators are a little on and it is a little bit challenging to get around and figure things out from the garage to the room but it truly wasn’t a big deal at all.
The courtyard was very charming, and a beautiful place to enjoy a cuppa coffee in the morning. All the plants and flowers were very well taken care of. And the courtyard was very clean as well.
Again, it’s not a high-end hotel, but it has absolutely everything you need is clean and inviting
The location is superb. We didn’t have to drive anywhere. Walking distance to everything that old town San Diego has to offer.
Without any hesitation, I absolutely recommend This best western
Do not go if you are expecting the Carlyle hotel. But if you want to experience a cute Hacienda old school place. THIS IS THE SPOT FOR YOU.

Clean clean clean ! Cozy comfortable and in a prime location and near trolley busses and also near food restaurants and shopping!
Has a pool and spa to relax in and also has a Mexican restaurant connected that has a breakfast buffet option “$15” I think .
Staff is always ready to help and respectful !
A must stay on a trip or as a local.
