  1. Great location. A very welcoming and friendly staff. There all very helpful and friendly people. Great theme and BBQ nights to socialize with others staying at hostel.
Guy in yellow shirt at check in, was very helpful with adjusting our booking before arrival. He also gave very helpful info for a longer stay! We have stayed only once before and staff still remembered who we were. Great place to stay with great prices.

  2. About what you’d expect for a youth hostel for $125/night. Easy walk to Hollywood, close to a lot. Serviceable breakfast. The place was well worn but generally clean. Wednesday night happy hour was *hopping* but closed down promptly at 10:30.

  3. My stay was absolutely delightful! The accommodation provided ample space, ensuring comfort and relaxation throughout my entire visit. The cellar was a pleasant surprise, offering a cozy and serene atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a long day of activities. The attention to detail in the amenities provided truly enhanced my experience, making it a memorable and enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a peaceful and comfortable retreat. Looking forward to returning soon!

  4. I enjoyed my stay at Banana Bungalow in West Hollywood! The entire team here is kind, helpful, and professional. The hostel attracts a diverse and international community so the staff curates engaging and fun events throughout the week (for example – free breakfast in the morning and events like karaoke in the evening). The cleaning staff is also very hospitable/professional and did a great job.

The location is also pretty cool. The hostel is sandwiched between Melrose Ave (~5 min walk) and The Grove (~15 minute walk) so I was able to sightsee easily and even conveniently travel to the beach by bus. Check-in/check-out process was straightforward and informative.

Keep in mind that many of the rooms here are shared rooms so you may have roommates. Thankfully, I felt safe and relaxed in my dorm and everyone got along well. Overall, it was really nice meeting new friends in a fun environment and getting to explore the eclectic and eccentric West Hollywood neighborhood. I recommend Banana Bungalow West Hollywood and would stay here again.

Highlights: Accommodating staff, free wifi, affordable rooms, water pressure in bathroom, towel/sheets included in price, large communal kitchen w/ ovens/stoves, social events, ping pong table, coin laundry in basement, location.

  5. Stayed in a private room facing Fairfax Ave. Room was big and relatively silent considering it faces a busy street. Some of the staff at the front desk gave some tips when asked.

Shower was very poor, maintenance was quick trying to repair it but it seems more of a hydraulic issue from the building. Room facilities are outdated in general. Breakfast very basic, better not to count on it. Bar crowd may get very noisy at night depending on which room you have. Common areas are vey big and spread out, not the best to meet people.

Location was great near bars, restaurants and the Grove mall if you have a car. Internet Wi-Fi is good. Fridge in the room is convenient. Parking costs USD9/day and is a plus as must hostels in LA have no parking at all.
