I could not have imagined a more perfect wedding outfit than what Anu designed.
Being queer, I felt frustrated by the lack of Indian wedding outfit options that aligned with my gender expression. Nothing on the internet seemed representative of what I wanted to wear. It was even harder to shop in person as I didnât know which stores would be homophobic or which stores would welcome me.
Finding B Anu Designs was like finding a beacon of light. Anuâs team was welcoming and made me feel safe. She was able to capture the essence of my vision and transform it into something beautiful. I wanted something masculine but extremely feminine at the same time. I wanted something traditional but also modern. I wanted an outfit that I could feel gorgeous in and comfortable. Anu was able to deliver that and much more.
In addition to my wedding outfit, Anu designed a series of outfits for me and my wife to wear at my sisterâs wedding. We wanted something coordinating in an obvious, but elegant way. Anu was able to deliver just that with our reception outfits.
Throughout the process, I do wish there was more communication during the design phase. One of the blouses came back with a design we were not so fond of. We had voiced this concern to Anu and she listened and responded immediately. She was able to quickly rectify the situation and assuage our anxiety. Anu is always open to feedback and looking to improve.
Overall, I am very satisfied with B Anu Designs. She is very talented. If youâre queer and none of the outfits seem to be what you want, you can trust Anu to design it for you!
I found Anu initially via Google when I was looking for wedding outfit designers in the Bay Area. When I was taking a look at her website, I found a bridal lehenga that I absolutely fell in love with. It reminded me of a Sabyasachi lehenga but with a twist. The catch was that I would need to set up a call to learn more about it and pricing. Iâm not a fan of video calls, but I still signed up since I loved it that much. From the first moment, we interacted, I was impressed by Anuâs professionalism, passion, and straightforwardness. During this initial call, she told me a bit about herself and asked me about myself. We discussed the lehenga I had in mind and my budget. At that time, I told her that I would get back to her as I had a few personal challenges going on at that time and we were unsure of the wedding date.
Fast forward a few months and we had a date, but it was 3 months out. My husband and I immediately reached out to Anu and she asked us to come in to take a look at her collection. She spent quite a bit of time speaking with us, explaining the process, and getting a better idea of our vision. We didnât purchase that day as we wanted my parents to take a look. The moment my mom walked in, she was pleased with Anuâs collection. My mom pulled out a lehenga that I hadnât even considered initially (it was a yellow one, but I was looking for something in the pink/red family). We spoke with Anu and Anu suggested some customizations to the lehenga in terms of the color, design, and style. I called my dad and he helped us finalize the wedding lehenga. During the same visit, we also finalized my husbandâs full outfit (head to toe) so that the colors would match mine. Anu took our measurements and we were ready to go. It was a seamless experience and my parents enjoyed it as well.
A few weeks later, Anu asked me to come in as my outfitâs swatch had come in. I was so impressed as I wasnât expecting this. It looked beautiful and I gave her my go-ahead. During this visit, I also asked Anu if she could help with the jewelry, bangles, kaleera, and the payals. Although she didnât carry bangles, kaleera, and the payals, she asked that I send her some inspiration photos and that she would take care of it. We also tried out the jewelry at her shop and put aside a set that I loved. We ended the appointment by popping the Rose with a cute âsay yes to the dressâ moment.
With COVID, there were some delays in the delivery date, but Anu went above and beyond to fulfill our delivery. She also had my blouse altered to the current measurements (lost some weight) and even brought the completed blouse to my house. She also steamed the outfits and packaged everything so well for my husband and I. This was literally a one-stop shop!
We both received many compliments on our outfits during the wedding! I reluctantly took mine off after 15 hours of wear I will definitely be coming back to Anuâs for other events! I highly recommend BAnu, you will not be disappointed.

Anuâs work is excellent. She is responsive, detailed, and timely. I am very happy with her work. She brought what I had envisioned to life and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend her to anyone, especially those that are looking for custom work.
Iâve reached out to B Anu 5 different times (2 emails, 1 info-submission on website, and 2 texts) and I have not heard back at allâŠin over 2 weeks. For any business, this is really disappointing. Communication has been consistently challenging & I do not recommend any bride who is bridal shopping to rely on B Anuâs business to deliver/communicate professionally. I recommend brides who are looking for beautiful pieces to travel down to Shop Kynah in LA, TC Urban Couture, or Vama Designs for their needs â at the minimum, these other businesses will return calls/emails in a timely fashion.
Mother-of-the-bride lehenga! Gorgeous customized lehenga with the choli and chunni co-designed by BAnuDesigns and me for my daughterâs wedding in December. For the reception I was keen to wear an elegant, classy lehenga but couldnât visualize or even describe more than that. When I walked into Anuâs boutique and looked around, I noticed this gorgeous ethnic style lehenga but not so-much the choli and chunni with it. Together we designed this maroon raw silk choli with the maroon organza chunni â minimal and sophisticated! I styled them with my own wedding gold tika, choker, karas and earrings. Loved wearing and getting the fabulous compliments. Thanks, Anu!
