  1. Key card system for rooms were broken and apparently had been for almost a week. This resulted in an incredibly uncomfortable and annoying system where you had to come to front desk and have them come to your room with you to let you in every time

They didn’t have an extra person on duty to handle this task and didn’t seem to have a system down to quickly process people for this so there could be a wait there while they were checking in people, bringing others to their room, etc.

As a solo female traveler there are additional safety annoyances here as well especially coming back late at night. Both in terms of potentially waiting in an empty lobby feeling very very exposed and also it feels incredibly uncomfortable to have a man follow you to your room directly late at night.

Also the ice machine was broken and seemingly had been for a while. The water fountains there were room temperature. They didn’t have any alternative way to get ice or cold water. It’s a heat wave. Having ice is a necessity.

This is individually owned but associated with a larger chain. Isn’t the point of that partially so they aren’t on their own in regards to this stuff? How badly and uniquely could the ice machine and key card systems have been broken and that Ramada can’t send out a repair person to handle in a few hours.

No complaints about a room with some wear and tear that is expected in this price range but the ability to get some ice and a working key card?

Also tried calling the number listed on hotel tonight and google and neither worked?

Great location. Friendly staff. Accomodating for early check in. Good price. Free breakfast. Easy five stars if these issues get fixed.

  2. Location was perfect for me close to everything very walkable area. The staff was solid professional hard-working helpful. The room was very clean spacious enough for me, good for a couple. The breakfast was solid there was a variety can’t complain it was free and fresh. Very attractive worthwhile stay for the price! U can’t beat it! Would recommend & I would stay there again.

  3. We’ve had a positive experience during our stay. Super close to a BART station, so it was easy to get across to SF. Breakfast was fine (could use a warm vegetarian option) and the front desk staff was friendly/helpful. The room was clean and stocked with fridge, microwave, and expected toiletries
room has a strange configuration, which left little room to maneuver, but we managed (bigger folks might struggle). Couple other little quirks with the room, but clean and functioning are the most important details, so it’s all good. Thanks!

  4. Honestly you can’t beat the price, this is the least expensive hotel in downtown Oakland that’s accessible by transit. It’s a fine spot, not too loud usually, and rooms are a little outdated but fine and the showers are hot. The only downside for me personally is the beds are incredibly hard. I can usually sleep in any hotel without issue, but I was completely unable to sleep on these beds and needed to make a pillow nest to even hope of sleeping. If you’re more of a firm mattress person, you’ll love it.
