  1. I’ve debated whether to share my experience but after sitting with it, I feel it necessary to share. I’ll start by saying the doctors and nurses here are excellent and very caring. The wait times are long as it’s clear they are balancing getting through patients while also giving every appt due time to answer parents’ questions and make you feel confident. As a first time mom, that extra care meant a lot.

The front desk deserves no such praise. I had an appt scheduled for yesterday that the practice mistakenly cancelled but did not notify me. When I showed up for the appt, I was told there was nothing they could do even though it was their mistake and that I would be treated as a walk-in, with no direction on how long I’d have to wait. When I said that I’d like to talk to the doctor, I was laughed at and told that was a “ridiculous request.” When I responded calmly that I didn’t appreciate being laughed at when this was the office’s mistake, I was told by the front desk woman that she “reserved the right to laugh” at me. What human being laughs at a mom of a three month old when she’s just trying to be seen for an appt that she had scheduled? It didn’t make sense and I found out later that this woman failed to follow protocol- she should’ve fit me in because this was their mistake. She then proceeded to stand up, clap her hands at me, raise her voice and say that I “didn’t know what she’d been going through.” I responded that I found this exchange very rude and I wouldn’t be coming back.

I recieved a call from the doctor 20 min later who apologized for the interaction. I very much appreciate him reaching out immediately, but ultimately I don’t feel comfortable going back to a place where the front desk treats mothers that way. It was appalling.

  2. Alabama Pediatrics is a phenomenal group of pediatricians. We have had feeding struggles with all three of my children as babies and the doctors here worked so hard to find the perfect solution for each one. Quick response time and wonderful staff. I can’t recommend them enough!

  3. Dr. Pelham is by far the best they have! Don’t get me wrong, the other doctors are great, but he is the nicest person you will ever meet. He’s been seeing our daughter since she was 2 weeks old. I couldn’t have asked for a better pediatrician. He’s very caring and always listens to all of our concerns. The wait times there can sometimes be long, but he is always apologetic about it. He always ask the parents how are they doing. When I was about 4 weeks postpartum he would always say “How are you doing, Mom?” that meant a lot because of a lot of people always ask about the baby, never the Mom. But every single visit he asked me how I was doing before checking the baby out. I highly recommend him to anyone.

  4. We are new to town. Alabama Pediatrics came highly recommended. We made an appointment for my son to be seen (they squeezed us in last minute, such a plus). The wait time was longer but I can honestly say that the time that Dr. Pelham spent with my children and I makes up for the longer wait time. He took the time to get to know not only our family history but our family as a whole. He allowed me to have the floor and ask my list of questions and walked me through different thought processes. He has impeccable bedside manner. One can tell that he truly loves his job. We will pack a bag of toys, and a couple snacks for our next appointment because the amazing care far outweighs the wait time. Thankful to have found this clinic for our family!

  5. You could not ask for a better place to take care of your pride and joy, I have meet all the Dr.s and they all have such amazing bedside manors and worked very well with my son. The nurses go above and beyond to make sure they are comfortable and not scared being in a docs office. My son truly loves Dr. Stansell and his nurses. I would and have recommended AL Peds to anyone. Thank you all for all your hard work and dedication to your patients as well as the parents. It takes strong willed people to work with children all day long.
