I tried this place because a friend recommended for as the food was top choice for soul food in Montgomery! The atmosphere was pretty great and and I was welcome. The food distasteful my meal was the cabbage, Mac-cheese, and the fried chicken and the cornbread. Immediately I taste the cabbage and they taste like a tea bag with seasoning on them. The chicken undercooked the Mac- cheese clumpy. This was a terrible. I paid over $14 this has ruin my taste buds for the rest of week!!
Love supporting small businesses, but dislike wasting money. I saw a very popular blogger posted up at this business and giving kudos and raving about how good the food is. But in my case, I did not get that good quality service. I literally stopped by this restaurant after a long drive from New Orleans, before heading East on I-85. On a hot sunny day, it was hot inside as well. There was one car in the parking lot, one car in the drive thru, one person in line at the counter. Food didn’t look tempting to me, but I trusted whom I thought was an unbiased reliable source. Listen, I ain’t never eating raw food. That is what I got. I asked for baked chicken, cabbage, corn bread muffin, black eyed peas, and white rice. I bought a plate, drove 80 miles home, then sat down to eat, but ended up tossing the plate. Judge for yourself. See my video. Anyway, I just really wish they would pay more attention to foods served. Maybe I will stop by another day. But it is going to be a good minute. I cannot readily recommend at this time.
This is a nice hidden little gem here in Montgomery! I’ll tell you, the sides are fantastic! Classic yams, mac, cornbread, greens etc. While I’ve had better fried chicken(s), this still gets an honorable mention for that ole’ southern style cooking. All are welcome and they do accept cash/card. We got two meals for just around $25. Not bad!
Omg, if you’re ever in Montgomery on a Sunday or Wednesday you have got to stop here and get the ox tails! Greens are on point, Mac and cheese outstanding, portions are huge. I started eating before I remembered to take a picture 😅. 10 out of 10, staff is super welcoming and friendly, sweet tea comes with your meal and it was true southern style. If you NEED out of this world soul food one to Mrs. B’s.
Just skip it.
Pork chop was so incredibly dry, good thing it’s smothered. That’s probably why it’s smothered.
Green beans were way, way, to salty. Couldn’t even touch it.
Cabbage didn’t even taste like cabbage. Tasted old or something.
Beef tips was …. Okay
Fried chicken was also dry…. This is depressing.
Cornbread was painfully dry.
The sweet potatoes were good, you better like them very sweet though.
All the tables were dirty. All of them.
This place has no business charging almost $15 a plate like this.
