Sometimes a hole-in-the-wall is the way to go! This place is off the beaten path and trust me, you want to go here. We ordered the crab claws, a burger, gumbo, and oysters. Everything was incredible!! The owner stopped by to check on us, and he was a delight. Make sure you check out this hidden gem!!
We visited recently after a day on the river. This is only my second time to ever visit this location so I am not sure what is normal but the place felt like it was in the middle of a move or transition. The service staff was nice but when we ordered, she was not aware what the kitchen was out of and we were having an early dinner at about 430 but had to adjust our orders but all in all the food was good and I always enjoy eating near the water 😁
This is definitely a hidden gem! The view to the river is spectacular and the vibe in the restaurant is so calming. Blues jazz music playing and our food and service was wonderful, everyone was very friendly. They also have live music on Sundays evenings, check their website. Here are a few photos of the restaurant outside. They have covered outdoor patio seating as well. Also, they do have a gated RV park right next door to the restaurant. Nothing real fancy, but excellent WiFi and 50/30 amp hook ups, sewer. Easy price around 40.00 a night. All gravel rv spaces, level, with a nice walking park in the front area outside the gate.
This was our first time eating here. Upon pulling up, my husband was a little skeptical, but I told him I’d seen FB friends post about going here and it was fine. We proceeded to go in, we were right before dinner rush, so got seated immediately. Our waitress was super friendly. I can’t remember her name, but she made drink suggestions and answered any questions we had about the menu. She even allowed us to move from the inside seating to outside, when a table became available (this was shortly after being seated and we only had our waters). We ordered our appetizers: gator tail, gumbo and crawfish cream sauce and she said she’d wait because we might be full. Well, we wanted the whole experience so when we got our appetizers we placed our entree order. She was right! We were already stuffed! When our food came, catfish platter and a 1/2 order of fried oysters, and chicken fingers, we sampled each item and the sides, but ultimately had to get a to go box. My husband was very impressed at the size of catfish and said they were so good. It was just an overall wonderful experience. The sun was setting and the scenery was beautiful. We even got to speak to a gentleman as we left, that we feel was the owner. He asked about our experience and told us that Sundays are when they have the live band. We will definitely be going back. It’s not often you have such a pleasant experience and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy their job.
I love every time I visit. I can’t remember my waitress name but I always get her every time I come. Very sweet with dark brown hair and I believe her arm tattoo says Colvin or something similar to that. Food is delivered to the table extremely fast and always has an excellent taste. The waitress always checks on us multiple times and very friendly with children. Today, we ate outside and enjoyed the music and river. The outside area overlooks the Alabama River and you can view the boats as well as people fishing.
