  1. Two months and they just send the same email.
They want my insurance active with my new state before they cancel. My new state wants it cancel before they make it active… not sure why a government entity has so many problems

  2. Absolutely horrid customer service and system of operating. I submitted my license for California a month ago. Received an email telling me to upload fingerprint info to NIPR warehouse. 3 weeks later I call to check and they tell me that email didn’t come from them (when it clearly says Ricardo Lara California Insurance Commissioner and the email is came from Sircon. They then said I has to physically MAIL in the fingerprints for them to approve the application. Why would their email give steps for a system they don’t even OPEN to verify licensing? Par for the corse with this terrible liberal state of California. Not only did I pay $200 just for the license, another $50 for the fingerprints and THEY STILL DROP THE BALL. So frustrating and extremely unprofessional. This review will do nothing because it’s a government agency but hopefully people read this and won’t be afraid to dish out the attitude right back to them and their rude staff.

  3. At this point with all the insurance companies canceling over 100,000 policies, I don’t know what your guys point of being in business is. You might as well just close your doors. No one is looking out for consumers at all. You are incompetent and no customer service for us people who are losing our insurance or are forced to pay almost $10,000 per year for a regular home. That is what you should be enforcing against and you let it slide by instead of prosecuting the Insurance companies.

  4. They say they are a Consumer Advocacy office for the State of California, yes they say a good deal of things but they do nothing but give people the run around etc. When I first filed my complaint against a shady Insurance company who had not paid me for losses, before their officer had even gathered the information regarding my complaint he was already vehemently defending the insurance company. Right off the bat I felt shook up, of course I immediately requested a higher authority to speak with. Again, they just spoke to me and did nothing else. Yes in the course of several months they made a few calls and wrote a few redundant letters but they met none of the goals they promised during the application phase. They did not negotiate a settlement between myself and the insurance people, they did not hold the insurance company accountable for the lies and misinformation I was given during my claims process. I finally asked the Insurance Commissioner’s office to merely clarify the basis of the actions of the insurance company because in close to six months I had never been given a reason for how the insurance company was trying to settle my claim. The California Insurance Commissioner’s Office even failed there, I even made my way to the top of their complaints division and the head person left me high and dry. Listen, the moral of this story is that this is just another bunch of folks getting paid our tax money, giving us the run-around and lip service etc. THEY ARE THERE JUST TO SAY THEY ARE THERE… THEY ARE VERY LIKELY GETTING PAID BY THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY THAT HAS ENDLESS FUNDS AND SO THEY ARE NOT REALLY A CONSUMER ADVOCACY OFFICE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THEM. INSURANCE IS BIG BUSINESS AND BIG BUSINESS USUALLY COMES WITH CHEATING AND CORRUPTION. THEIR TIRED AND SIMPLE FORMULA: GANG UP AND CHEAT TO WIN!
In any case, despite this awful, sad and disheartening experience, the good news is that the court system is usually not corrupt. Go to the courthouse; small claims court is a great resource for the public and the judges are often fair, clear and objective with the matters. If you feel justified, the best bet is to go straight to the courthouse and not waste time with the California Department of Insurance; maybe as a group we can even save some tax money by shrinking the size of this pretentious group of people.

  5. Don’t expect any solid investigating or care from this agency. As I suspected when first filing a complaint about Kemper’s blatant incompetence leading to be having lapsed coverage for nearly a month, the rep. assigned to my case was lazy & merely relied upon a CYA letter from Kemper (as if insurers are bastions of honesty & integrity), thus closed the matter. Even worse is when I contacted the Ombudsman after notifying them this rep. didn’t grasp why I complained…after leaving two voicemails, they just blew me off.

They don’t advocate for consumers…I’ll believe that once staffers either obtain robust training or they hire folks willing to give a damn. Until then, good luck should you contact them for assistance.
