I recently stayed at The Westin Long Beach for the weekend and had a mixed experience. While the hotel itself is decent, with a comfortable room and the typical Westin bed quality, the stay was somewhat affected by the hotel being fully booked for a wedding. The crowded reception area and restaurants made the experience feel a bit hectic, and I didnāt receive any special recognition for being a Lifetime Titanium Marriott member which IĀ usually do 99%Ā at aĀ time. Check-in was rushed, which was disappointing, and the lady that checked us in was very rushed, I guess because of the huge crowd.
On a positive note, the hotel did offer tickets for happy hour drinks at the bar and breakfast at the Navy Proof Food & Spirits Restaurant, which was a nice touch. The location is fantastic, right in downtown Long Beach and close to the Convention & Entertainment Center and various dining options.
Valet parking is $42 per day, with regular parking at $38. Pets are welcome for a fee, and the hotel offers a gym and outdoor heated pool.
Overall, while it wasnāt the best Marriott experience Iāve had, itās a solid choice if youāre staying in the Long Beach downtown area.
I had one of the BEST experiences a couple of years ago at this hotel. If I focus on the hotel cleanliness, the front desk staff courtesy and comfortable room, it is deft a 5 star.
I did have a negative experience with Navy Proof manager. He was a bit rude.
However, this incident was addressed with hotel management and this will not tarnish the OVERALL extraordinary experience at the hotel.
The bartenders are extremely nice and always remember your favorite drink and takeout order.
Pros: the hotel is well located, huge and well maintained. The room was spotlessly clean, airy and the beds were comfortable.
Cons: the service was so below the level I expected, borderline terrible.
We came in at about 4pm straight from the airport after a long haul flight and all we wanted to do was crash. We were told our rooms werenāt ready, the reason why was ambiguous at best. The front office staff showed no courtesy, nor concern, didnāt for a second so much as acknowledge the terrible inconvenience caused when we were made to wait for two HOURS before finally allowing us to check in at 6pm! It was all dealt with so casually with zero empathy or courtesy.
After finally getting into the room all we wanted was to sleep. While the beds were comfy, the soundproofing is terrible. We were on the 11th floor and the street sounds were still so loud! We were constantly woken by police sirens through the evening and night and some kind of rally that was happening on the street 11 stories below.
There was also a mix up with dinner stemming from, again, the staffās casual nature in communicating hotel procedures clearly.
Good hotel with good facilities, but really needs to improve their service big time.
I recently had the pleasure of working with Ruben at The Westin as an event coordinator for a wedding, and I cannot sing his praises enough. From the initial planning stages to the execution of our event, Ruben was not only accommodating but truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect.
His attention to detail and proactive approach made the entire process seamless. Ruben listened attentively to our needs and preferences, offering valuable insights and suggestions that enhanced our event. His professionalism and dedication were evident in every interaction, making him a true asset to The Westin.
I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a dedicated and capable event because of Ruben. His commitment to excellence and friendly demeanor made our experience truly memorable. Thank you, Ruben, and The Westin, for a fantastic event!
