I am somewhat of a skeptic; 7 decades of life have made me just a bit jaded about how people perform compared to how they promise. I research vendors when I plan to spend a lot of money.
I am also of the opinion that the old 5 to 6% commissions for real estate transactions seems just a bit outdated in the age of Amazon.
During my life, I moved a lot due to military service, training, job changes and relocation to be closer to family. Every time we used a traditional fee realtor to sell our homes.
My son and I have several LLCs that deal with real estate and from time to time have sold or purchased buildings using regularly paid/traditional realtors. We really had no other option. Several years ago, we decided to sell a number of condos my son had developed in the early 2000’s located in the same building.
We originally started with a “full service/full cost” realtor for the first one. That eroded a LOT of the profit and because we would be selling 7 more, we decided to look into a way to save money on the realtor fees. As of this month, we have used Amy at Flat Fee Birmingham for 6 condo sales and the sale of our personal home.
I am uncertain how much exactly we have saved, but am sure it is close to $50,000. Her integrity is unparalleled. Her service has been nothing short of excellent. Her advice has excelled. Her responsiveness has exceeded expectations. Her experience is deep and she is truly an amazing person both personally and professionally
With all of the changes going on with NAR, her services will be even more important as she is well versed in how to deal with the new environment. I have recommended her to close friends and put my reputation on the line… she has never disappointed any of them.
